Senior Systems Engineer Location: Hill Air Force Base, Utah(onsite) Clearance Requirement: ****This position requires an Active Secret Clearance**** Employment Class: Full Time Regular FLSA Classification: Exempt - Salaried Position Summary: Command Cyber Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Sr Systems Engineer to join our IT team in support of a client at Hill AFB. The Sr Systems Engineer will be responsible for managing and maintaining the large-scale operating system infrastructure, with a focus on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) migrations, systems discovery, and mapping for the Linux environment. The engineer will design, deploy, and maintain highly redundant, scalable, enterprise-class systems and services on RHEL platforms, ensuring system stability, security, and optimal performance. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: * Lead RHEL migrations, including planning, execution, and validation of migrations * Conduct systems discovery and mapping for the Linux environment, including identifying dependencies and relationships between systems * Support Linux modernization projects including kernel installation, configuration, and maintenance into both a Data Center on-premises environment and Cloud environments. * Implement and manage configuration management tools, such as Ansible, for automation and standardization of server builds, configurations * Implement and validate Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and ensure vulnerability for Linux backed applications * Monitor system performance, security, and availability * Troubleshoot complex issues and provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for RHEL systems * Apply, manage, and perform system upgrades, patches, and security updates, ensuring compliance with security and regulatory requirements * Develop and maintain documentation for RHEL systems and processes, including system administration guides and troubleshooting procedures Education & Experience Requirements * Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field or equivalent experience * Minimum of 4 years (4+) experience in system administration, with a focus on RHEL and Windows operating systems Certification Requirements: *CompTIA Security+ Certification Security Clearance Requirement: * Active Secret Clearance required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Requirements: Required: * Strong knowledge of operating system administration, security, and performance tuning on RHEL and Windows platforms * Experience with configuration management tools, virtualization technologies, and containerization * Experience with monitoring and ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Remedy, Jira) * Excellent problem-solving and communication skills Preferred: * Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification * Knowledge of cloud migration and deployment, with a focus on RHEL and Windows system administration in the cloud (AWS, Azure, etc) * Experience with orchestration tools and containerization, such as Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, and Rancher * Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools, such as Jenkins, GitLab, and Azure DevOps * Experience with scripting languages, such as PHP, Python and PowerShell * Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks, such as NIST Working Conditions/Working Environment/Physical Demands * Basic office work environment at government facility location * Scheduled hours between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday * May require participation in rotating schedule for off-shift and weekend work * On-call availability for maintenance and emergency situations * Duties are subject to change based on the needs of the customer Command Cyber Solutions (CCS) is an equal opportunity employer.In order to provide equal employment opportunities for all applicants and advancement opportunities to all employees, employment decisions at Command Cyber Solutions will be based on merit, qualifications and abilities.
