Position Title: HVAC Field Technician



  • Basic Function: Basic understanding of different types of HVAC Equipment and how they operate with or without other types ex.. four pipe hydronic, two pipe hydronic, air-cooled/water-cooled chillers, condensing units, modular/array/condensing/non-condensing boilers, VRF Heat Pumps/Water Sourced Heat Pumps, Mini-splits/Multi Splits, Radiant in Floor, Unit/Cabinet Heaters, Fan Coil Units/Variable Air Volume Units, Packaged Units, Geo-thermal Heat Pumps.


Duties and Responsibilities for HVAC Field Technician:



  • Identifies HVAC deficiencies and problems, reports back to RFOS and Dawson Building Automation team for repairs or replacements.
  • Utilizes building controls to make system changes and improvements.
  • Travel to sites to review building systems for potential improvements and upgrades.
  • Serves as subject matter expert for HVAC systems and implementation.
  • Emergency support for HVAC systems failures. Field support of HVAC systems and support operations team as needed.
  • Inspect and test HVAC systems and components.
  • Obtains manufactures specifications and preventative maintenance requirements for HVAC systems and components.
  • Maintain records of work performed.
  • Facilitate centralized management and monitoring of HVAC systems for streamlined operation.
  • Support the reliability and stability of HVAC equipment through integrated control and monitoring.
  • Assist in implementing responsive and adaptable control mechanisms.
  • Enhance efficiency of HVAC systems through intelligent control strategies.
  • Incorporate intelligent controllers to manage system functions and respond to input data.
  • Ensure compatibility with existing building automation systems and other integrated technologies.
  • Assist in systems integration as needed and provide monthly controls inspections.


Position Requirements and Qualifications:



  • Completion of a recognized HVAC certification or diploma program with the required duties of the position and a minimum of 6-8 years of directly applicable experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorable NACi background investigation. Completion of fingerprinting, SF85 and OF301 forms are required.
  • Must have a valid state-issued Driver's license.
  • Must possess a two-year technical degree in related field or equivalent professional training and related work experience.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products and have the ability to use web-enabled programs and use the internet for informational research.
  • Must be able to draft clear and comprehensible memos about facilities maintenance and repair related issues, as well as about recommendations for maintenance and repair changes, upgrades and improvements, use email, as well as develop and use spreadsheets.
