Job Overview

The Flow & Fix Clerical colleague plays a key support role in logistics and inventory operations at Macy's. This position ensures the efficient flow of merchandise from distribution centers to stores and assists in resolving inventory discrepancies. The colleague troubleshoots and resolves complex issues related to inbound logistics, inventory management, and supplier performance. Strategic insights and strong problem-solving abilities drive operational efficiency and uphold high standards of quality and accuracy. This role collaborates closely with members of the trouble resolution team, Central ICQA, and merchant groups.

What You Will Do



  • Monitor inventory tracking systems to ensure accurate and timely updates.
  • Research and reconcile inventory shortages and overages.
  • Analyze discrepancies and implement timely solutions.
  • Generate and distribute daily operational reports.
  • Collaborate with distribution, operations, and merchant teams to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Leverage data analytics tools to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), identify trends, and assess the effectiveness of receiving operations. Provide insights and reports to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Investigate and resolve purchase order discrepancies, including quantity mismatches, pricing errors, and delivery delays. Recommend and implement preventive measures to improve purchase order accuracy and efficiency.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
  • In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.


Skills You Will Need

Inventory & Logistics Expertise: Deep understanding of inventory control, inbound logistics, and merchandise flow to ensure accurate and efficient movement from distribution centers to stores.

Data Analysis & Reporting: Proficient in analyzing operational data and KPIs to identify trends, monitor accuracy, and support data-driven decision-making using tools such as Excel, Access, and Sequel.

Problem Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, purchase order issues, and system-related problems quickly and effectively.

Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication abilities to collaborate with cross-functional teams, document findings, and clearly present solutions.

Systems Proficiency: Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), with a preferred knowledge of Macy's systems including Mainframe, FedFIL, FedFLO, FedBUY, INV, WMS, CRC, and CEB.

Collaboration & Influence: Works effectively with distribution, operations, and merchant teams to drive improvements and ensure alignment on solutions and processes.

Initiative & Independence: Self-motivated and resourceful, able to work independently with minimal supervision while managing competing priorities and deadlines.

Attention to Detail: Meticulous with data entry and reporting, ensuring accuracy in inventory tracking and discrepancy resolution.

Time Management & Organization: Demonstrates strong ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Process Improvement Orientation: Curious and proactive in evaluating existing processes and recommending enhancements to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Compliance & Documentation: Capable of interpreting procedural manuals, safety rules, and standard operating instructions to maintain adherence to company standards and regulatory requirements.

Who You Are



  • Candidates with a High School diploma or equivalent are encouraged to apply.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on department and company needs.
