Position Summary:

The Facilities Maintenance Technician I is responsible for all encompassing duties falling under Property Maintenance, Facilities, and Building Maintenance including use of maintenance and task assignment software, event support, range support and supervision; basic construction/plumbing/HVAC/electrical/welding, heavy machine operations, snow removal, and HAZMAT handling. This is an entry-level position that requires a basic understanding of carpentry and landscaping and typically 0-2 years of experience. The Facilities Maintenance Technician I works in a customer facing environment that works with all departments of SIG. Day to day operations consist of working with Academy personnel and Instructors, Marketing, Events, EHS, Operations, and R&D.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Perform day to day operations and maintenance to ensure optimal functioning and maintenance of all range and building properties.
  • Oversee installations, inspections, repairs, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting of building systems including mechanical, electrical, fire/life safety, plumbing, and waste management.
  • All small and large projects will be performed under the guidance of the Supervisor.
  • Log all activities, assigned tasks, requests, and support items into Monday.com for visibility and tracking.
  • Using eMaint, complete maintenance requests for reactive and preventative maintenance.
  • Perform landscaping operations as well as recommend additional work be done to ensure all grounds are kept at a level of meeting or exceeding customers' expectations.
  • Maintain and document all work in indoor ranges ensuring they are clean, safe, and in peak performance.
  • Monitor indoor ranges for continuous improvement and safety.
  • Monitor range ventilation system and perform reactive and preventative maintenance; change filters, empty range lead, repair and maintain targets, targeting systems, and retrievers.
  • Pick up spent brass and any trash or items that should not be seen by customers.
  • Perform snow removal operations outside of contracted seasonal work.
  • Assist in small projects including periodic cleaning during the business day to ensure optimal appearance of the SEC and its ranges.
  • Ability to learn and understand operation, maintenance, and safety around heavy equipment.
  • Assist the Events team to organize and set up small to large scale events on the SEC and Academy property.
  • Maintain heavy equipment, snow blowers, landscaping equipment, fleet vehicles, and Academy class use vehicles.
  • All problems to be corrected or reported to Supervisor.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on building systems and mechanical equipment such as packaged heating/cooling units, ventilation systems, water filtration, roofing systems, etc.
  • Perform operational and task-oriented requests with understanding of prioritization and data entry for record keeping.
  • Oversee contractors' work quality and access. Meet with outside contractors. Ensure the contracted cleaning company is performing their function according to contractual obligations and recommend other work needed to keep all buildings as clean as possible, so they reflect excellence for students, customers, and Academy staff.
  • Advise on safety and range use through the Academy.
  • Operate in a controlled and safe manner at all times.
  • Monitor fire suppression systems including off hour phone response and physical reporting.
  • Engage in Continuous Improvement projects/tasks.
  • Participate in and sustain 5S Standards.
  • Must follow all required Safety and ISO procedures.
  • Regular on-site attendance and punctuality is a necessary function of this position.
  • May be required to work in other functional areas and/or facilities depending on business needs.
  • May be required to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.


Education/Experience & Skills:



  • High school diploma and 0-2 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience and a broad understanding of SIG SAUER firearms.
  • Previous experience with safe firearms handling, emergency medical response, heavy machinery operations, HAZMAT, and basic experience with carpentry preferred.
  • Ability to use all weapons systems within SIG.
  • Range and CPR certified.
  • Blood, lead, and hearing tests required twice a year.
  • Microsoft Office (Word and Outlook) required, eMaint, OTJ, Monday.com, and BMS preferred.
  • Must be able to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information to others, both verbally and in written form.


Working Conditions:



  • Work is primarily standing (90 + % of the shift) with the exception of breaks/lunch periods.
  • The duties of this position may require standing for long periods of time, frequently working on ladders, scaffolds, and lifts; frequent kneeling, running, sitting, crouching, crawling, twisting, grasping, and walking can be expected along with frequent lifting equipment up to 40 pounds and/or moving of equipment and materials up to 100 pounds.
  • Must be able to reach with hands and arms, bend, and kneel frequently at a minimum 50% of the shift, as well as undergo repetitive wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder, and ankle motions.
  • Work environment will sometimes be dusty, dirty, hot, or wet conditions, and possible confined spaces.
  • Assignments will require exposure to varying climate and environmental conditions both extreme cold and warm weather condition for extended periods of time.
  • Must demonstrate proficient fine motor skills, be able to grip, reach, pull, and turn.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
  • Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. security mandates.
