Position Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer I will be responsible for overseeing and improving the manufacturing processes for CNC machined rifle and pistol components. The Manufacturing Engineer I will design new processes from start to finish including machine selection, fixtures, gages, tooling, control plans, work instructions, tool life studies, and heat treat studies. Responsible for identifying areas for improvement and cost savings analysis. Must maintain elevated levels of organization and project management to ensure on-time delivery and product quality and determine problem resolutions and implement improvements. The Manufacturing Engineer I will develop detailed layouts and routings for equipment, processes, and workflow, research and develop new processes, equipment, and products, maintain research, activity documentation, and preparing reports, and ensure manufacturing processes, equipment, and products comply with safety standards and legal regulations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Design new processes from start to finish including machine selection, fixtures, gages, tooling, control plans, work instructions, tool life studies, and heat treat studies.
  • Identify areas for improvement and cost savings analysis.
  • Determine problem resolutions and implement improvements to quality and throughput.
  • Track tasks and projects along with Engineering Lead and Supervisor using Monday.com boards, spreadsheets, and personal notes.
  • Maintain elevated levels of organization and project management to ensure on-time delivery and product quality.
  • Resolve quality issues related to assigned product and processes using inspection, data collection, basic dimensional stack-ups, control plan edits and basic statistical methods.
  • Develop detailed layouts and routings for equipment, processes, and workflow.
  • Provide day-to-day, hands-on production support for assigned manufacturing process including high volume CNC machining, machine and tool design, Assembly, Metal Finishing, and Automation. Escalate persistent issues to Engineering Lead or Supervisor.
  • Edit and improve detailed process drawings, quality control plans, operator and set-up work instructions, set-up sheets and production routings using SIG Agile product life cycle database.
  • Support senior level Manufacturing Engineers with the improvement and development of new processes equipment and products.
  • Maintain research, activity documentation, and prepare reports.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes, equipment, and products comply with safety standards and legal regulations.
  • Engage in continuous improvement projects and tasks.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.


Education/Experience & Skills:



  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering required with 0-3 years of previous experience required.
  • High level of technical expertise required and must be strong analytical thinker.
  • Experience evaluating and troubleshooting manufacturing processes and machinery.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint as well as SOLIDWORKS, and possess a basic working knowledge of Monday.com.
  • Experience in using CAD, CAM, and data analysis programs is required.
  • Must be able to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information to others, both verbally and in written form.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.


Working Conditions:



  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer using a keyboard and mouse performing repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to open file cabinets, reach with hands and arms, bend, and twist, lift and move files.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
  • Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. Security Mandates.
