Compensation:

The anticipated base pay compensation range for this position is$120,400.00 to$200,700.00.

Position Details:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Disaster Recovery Resiliency Engineer to oversee the development, implementation, and management of our enterprise-wide disaster recovery (DR) program. This individual will serve as the technical backbone of our BCDR team, helping to translate business requirements into reliable recovery solutions. The ideal candidate combines infrastructure or cloud engineering skills with a strong understanding of risk, availability, and continuity planning.

This role is critical in ensuring the resilience of our IT systems and services during and after significant disruptions. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical background, project management skills, and leadership acumen to build a robust and compliant DR framework.

You will drive compliance of global business units with Grainger's Global Business Continuity Management activities with Grainger's IT Governance, Risk Management and Compliance Program.

You will report to the Senior Manager of Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery.

You Will:

  • Design, develop, and maintain a comprehensive disaster recovery and IT resiliency strategy aligned with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, cybersecurity, application, and compliance teams to ensure DR integration across all systems.
  • Work with business teams across the global organization to build the Business Continuity Management program framework, extending processes to help business partners identify, availability, risk and manage mitigation to an acceptable level.
  • Lead the creation and execution of DR plans, including recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO).
  • Establish a maintenance and exercise cadence for plans, considering best practices, industry standards and important areas of focus for WWG.
  • Lead various types of DR exercises, coordinating with customers to ensure quality execution, including: system failovers, cyber-related recoveries, backup restorations for both on-prem and cloud. Lead execution of annual Business Impact Analysis and Technical Impact Analysis to identify vulnerabilities and critical dependencies.
  • Refresh plan templates. Conduct BC / DR Plan reviews throughout WWG to ensure necessary documentation meets standard requirements.
  • Present to management and business facing leadership; reporting on DR readiness, gaps, and improvements to senior leadership and external auditors.
  • Collaboratively influence and socialize strategies, standards, procedures, communications, and governance.
  • Promote a culture of preparedness through training, awareness programs, and departmental engagement.
  • Travel to Chicago, if not local, to ensure close collaboration with technology organization, fostering strong relationships throughout organization.
  • Develop roadmap with other analysts and BCM Manager.
  • Coach and mentor junior team members.
  • Align individual goals to team goals with OKRs.

You Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Business Continuity, or related field; advanced degree or certifications preferred.
  • 10+ years industry experiencein IT.
  • Strong knowledge of DR frameworks, technologies, and methodologies.
  • Proven experience with cloud DR, virtualization, and hybrid infrastructure environments.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP).
  • Experience working with ISO 22301, 27001, ISO 27005 (or similar) security framework, NIST RMF standards in operational IT environment.
  • Operational experience applying risk frameworks to technologies (including cloud, containers) and processes (including DevOps and Agile software deployment) helpful.
  • Can work in a collaborative team environmentwith the ability to work under pressure and lead during high-stakes incidents.
  • Proficient in Microsoft products.
  • Experience with project management.
