https://ualr.edu/library/ Summary of Job Duties:The Library Technician (Collections & Acquisitions) position serves as a member of the library's collections team and is responsible for providing a wide range of library collection and administrative services. This onsite position reports to the Collection Services Coordinator, typically working an 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday schedule. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy. Qualifications:

Required Education and or Experience:

  • The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus one year of experience in a library environment or a related field.

    OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process library purchases, billing, collections and deposits;

  • Assist in deselection of library materials, evaluating print materials based on qualitative criteria and collection goals;

  • Oversee the removal of books from the shelves and preparation for disposal;

  • Supervise student employees, providing training and direction;

  • Support library administration with general procurement and human resources processes;

  • Provide customer service at library service points as needed;

  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of library services, resources and technology;

  • Knowledge of acquisitions, finance and collections management practices and systems (e.g. Alma and Workday);

  • Experience with computer productivity applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace and Wordpress);

  • Ability to work efficiently with excellent attention to detail;

  • Demonstrated flexibility and reliability in performance of job duties;

  • Superior communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
