We are looking for a Senior Research Specialist to join our Weather & Climate Research team! The role of Weather & Climate team is to deliver data-driven analysis and commentaries to support our internal partners and clients alike, as our customers worldwide rely on our expertise to make their trading and investment decisions. The team develops proprietary fundamental and price forecasting models and produces the forward looking view of supply, demand, and prices, where weather and climate data and insights are inherent in many of these forecasts.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the production of weather commentaries and proprietary weather outlooks across the globe -- as well as understanding and presenting impacts on Commodities markets, including Agriculture, Power, Gas, and more. This will require the specialist to have outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and be able to work quickly and in some cases on a tight schedule. Team member will need to collaborate with others across various teams to not only produce written and automated content, but also to market and expose the content with clients.

Scope of work/Responsibilities:

  • Produce short-term weather outlooks for various Commodities markets.
  • Support and develop methodologies and development for monthly and seasonal weather outlooks for critical parts of the world, including North & South America, Europe, and Asia, among others.
  • Support the development and evolution of existing and new weather and climate content within LSEG's Workspace platform.
  • Lead and support metadata needs for existing and new weather and climate data within LSEG's Commodities database
  • Develop reports and dashboards using PowerBI and other tools
  • Present on, and at times, lead internal and external calls, meetings, presentations, and at industry events

Requirements:

  • B.S. or equivalent experience (minimum 4 years' working experience) in Meteorology, Climatology, Atmospheric Science, or equivalent degree in related field
  • Strong English writing skills
  • Proficient in English, additional languages a plus
  • Robust analytical and social skills, critical thinking mind
  • Strong coding skills, preferably in Python
  • Work well both independently and within team members across multiple regions
  • Outstanding attention to detail abilities
  • Must align with LSEG's hybrid work environment, and attend the office 3 or more days per week

Compensation/Benefits Information:

LSEG is committed to offering competitive Compensation and Benefits. The anticipated base salary for this position is $108,700 - $181,300. Please be aware base salary ranges may vary by geographic location, city and state. In addition to our offered base salary, this role is eligible for our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP/"bonus plan"). Target AIP rates will be commensurate with role level and posted career stage. Individual salary will be reflective of job related knowledge, skills and equivalent experience. LSEG roles (excluding internships and part-time roles of less than 20 hours per week) are typically eligible for inclusion in our LSEG Benefits program, which includes offerings of: Annual Wellness Allowance, Paid time-off, Medical, Dental, Vision, Flex Spending & Health Savings Options, Prescription Drug plan, 401(K) Savings Plan and Company match.
