Your Job

Koch Specialty Plant Services is seeking an Estimating Leader to join our team. This Estimating Leader role is a critical part of the larger Commercial team and is responsible for advancing our estimating capabilities and cost effectiveness in both turnaround and small-to-mid-size multidisciplinary capital project work. Critical disciplines include pipefitting, welding, mechanical work as well civil and I&E engineering and construction cost. This role will ensure we have the right talent (culture, skills & knowledge), systems and departmental capabilities to support our strategic growth objectives in heavy industrial construction projects. The successful candidate will lead a team of diverse skill sets, continually addressing gaps and transforming our estimating capability by leveraging people, technology, knowledge processes. This role will work closely with the Commercial Sales Manager to align Commercial team efforts with organizational vision and ensure all members are working cohesively toward common goals. A focus on pursuing and winning profitable projects and fostering preferred partnerships internally and externally is essential.

What You Will Do

  • Leadership, Strategy, and Team Development
    • Apply strategic and economic thinking to develop, analyze, and implement strategies that enhance estimating capabilities and align with organizational objectives
    • Lead and cultivate a team of contribution-motivated estimators, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and improvement
    • Identify and nurture talent within the team, providing mentorship and development opportunities to facilitate skill enhancement and knowledge acquisition
  • Process Optimization and Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Collaborate closely with Commercial Sales, to ensure full Commercial team alignment with strategic growth and business development initiatives
    • Collaborate closely with other departments including Project Management, Safety, Operations, KES Manufacturing teams to ensure alignment with strategic priorities and enhance project outcomes
    • Evaluate and implement advanced tools and systems to improve estimation accuracy and efficiency, while overseeing the refinement of processes and methodologies
    • Build and maintain strong subcontractor relationships to support reliable, cost-effective estimating and project execution, ensuring agreements align with organizational standards and goals
  • Profitability, Growth, and Cultural Alignment
    • Focus on estimating profitable projects that align with the company's long-term growth vision, emphasizing enduring Preferred Partnerships with key customers
    • Ensure all estimating activities reflect Koch's commitment to its values and vision

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience supervising and leading a team
  • 7+ years' experience in estimation and technical expertise within the industrial construction sector, preferably in petrochemical, refining, or power industries
  • Knowledge of and experience with estimation standards, software, and tools across disciplines
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
  • This role is not eligible for Visa sponsorship

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
  • 10+ years' experience within the industrial construction sector with a focus on capital project construction, piping, mechanical, civil, I&E, scheduling/path of construction knowledge
  • Fired equipment installation including Flares, Vapor Combustor, and Thermal Oxidizers
