Job Description

Summary/objective

Buffalo Rock is an award-winning Pepsi and Keurig Dr Pepper bottler founded in Birmingham, AL more than 123 years ago. Buffalo Rock manages the beverage portfolio in the country, which includes several beloved global and regional brands. The Corporate Payroll Specialist I is a key member of the Corporate Payroll who will assist the Payroll Manager with the organization's payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed timely, accurately, and in compliance with all government regulations. This role involves performing payroll functions including end-to-end payroll processing and tax reporting as well as supporting the Payroll department as needed.

Essential functions

* Perform record keeping and payroll processing activities to include entry of wage/overtime payments, rate/salary changes, paid time off (PTO) and payroll deductions.

* Process weekly payroll for assigned locations with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness as outlined in the payroll Standard Operating Procedures.

* Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and issues in a professional manner.

* Prepare/distribute reports of time worked, earnings, taxes, deductions, etc.

* Enter garnishments in the HRIS (creditor, child support, bankruptcy, etc.) and maintain log of garnishment records and related employment verifications sent to applicable locations timely.

* Stay current with payroll laws and tax regulations to ensure compliance at all levels.

* Serve as backup, as needed, for all payroll functions.

* Maintain time tracking, payroll and attendance software programs.

* Work collaboratively with corporate and franchise Employee-Partners to ensure seamless payroll communication and execution across the organization.

* Adhere to and ensure compliance with the payroll Standard Operating Procedures and regulations.

* Demonstrate confidentiality, sound judgment and tact.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

* Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position.

o Due to the sensitivity of payroll, this position requires flexibility and time management skills to ensure that Employee-Partners are paid timely and accurately.

* Successful completion of assigned training curriculum including, but not limited to, online and/or facilitated training.

Required education and experience

  • Education:
    • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); Required
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 1 year of verifiable payroll experience using payroll processing software; Required (Oracle payroll processing software experience; Preferred)
    • Minimum of 1 year of verifiable time maintenance/tracking experience using time tracking software; Required (Time Clock Plus time tracking software experience; Preferred)
  • Computer Skills:
    • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office programs to include SharePoint, Excel, Microsoft Outlook and Teams.
    • Oracle software experience, Preferred
    • TCP software experience, Preferred
