OPEN RECRUITMENT

This is a position specific recruitment. The resulting list of eligible candidates will be used to fill this Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) position/function only. All interested persons will need to re-apply for any future recruitment conducted for this classification.

The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) owns, operates, and maintains eight major toll facilities comprised of four bridges, two tunnels, and two turnpikes, across the State of Maryland. Nature of Work: The Digital Video Evidence Technician will serve as a key member of the Information Technology Law Enforcement (ITLE) Unit, responsible for the installation, maintenance, and administration of the Axon Fleet 3 In-Car Digital Video (ICDV) Systems and Body-Worn Camera infrastructure for the MTDA Police. This role involves independently coordinating with Axon, third-party installers, and MDTA Operations Fleet Office to support video equipment integration in police vehicles across the state.

Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Diagnosing and resolving technical issues related to Axon hardware and software systems, managing equipment through the Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) process, and taking inventory;
  • Handling and processing of recorded images within Axon Evidence.com; and
  • Assisting with training personnel and Detachment/ Unit IT coordinators in the troubleshooting and use of the Axon Fleet 3 systems.

This position will report directly to the Information Technology Law Enforcement Unit Commander. Work will involve exposure to various weather conditions while performing inspections and requiring climbing, crawling, and bending into police vehicles and moving or lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds. The current vacancy is located in Baltimore, MD.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of experience installing, troubleshooting and maintaining wireless communication networks, computerized communication equipment, or intelligent transportation systems equipment or devices. ** One year of this experience must include upfitting police vehicles, working with vehicle electronics, or working with police camera equipment inside of vehicles.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Employees in these classes are considered Essential Employees and will be required to sign and agree to all policies and procedures relating to Essential Employee status.

2. Employees are subject to call-in 24 hours a day and will be required to provide the Administration with a telephone number where they can be reached.

3. Employees may be required to demonstrate the ability to climb to elevated locations to perform electronic work on high structures.
