This role is responsible for technical support of the Aqua PA water/wastewater treatment instruments, metering pumps, calibrating equipment, supporting PLC station controls, and coordinating with operational managers to ensure reliable facility operations for surface water plants, wells, pump stations, wastewater plants, and lift stations, and other company facilities as assigned.

ESSENITAL DUTIES:

  • Troubleshoot and maintain PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers), OIT (Operator Interface Terminal), and other HMI (Human Machine Interface) programs that are used to operate / control water & wastewater facilities; this may involve creating new programs as well as modifying/updating existing programs.
  • Repair/Replace new pipe, and pipe fittings for standard water treatment chemical metering pumps, or treatment controls instruments.
  • Be capable of interpreting instruction manuals and equipment drawings, installation instructions, preparing bill or material for new projects/repairs, and submitting work order for repair work.
  • Be familiar with various types of water/wastewater treatment chemicals, feed equipment, instrumentation, and repair.
  • Be capable of working independently
  • Assist with various duties within Treatment, Production, Controls, and other departments.
  • Must be capable of lifting heavy equipment and moving chemical storage containers.
  • Initial setup, and calibration of plant/field water treatment instruments.

QUALIFICATIONS: (Required Experience, Education, Licenses, and Certifications)

  • Associate's degree or Trade School Certificate with an emphasis on electrical circuitry, electrical dwgs, or instrumentation & controls.
  • OR 2 years of professional experience working with water treatment process, treatment chemicals, metering pumps, water treatment instrumentation, and instruments is preferred.
  • Experience working with Industrial Automation / Instrumentation and Controls [I&C] technology; experience with programming Rockwell Allen-Bradley PLC's, and Control Expert is a plus!
  • Valid U.S. driver's license.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: (Examples below)

  • Able to read & understand electrical circuits and drawings, programming concepts, and process control instrumentation.
  • Have ability to install various types of piping and fittings.
  • Familiarity with digital multimeter technology.
  • Familiarity of connecting to PLC's is a plus!
  • Familiarity with the safe operation of hand tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, especially with the ability to communicate effectively (clearly, concisely, and professionally) with internal customers.
  • Strong inter-personal skills will be required for interfacing with Operations staff and vendors using the SCADA systems; this position requires the ability to work independently and take projects from concept through startup.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team Player attitude with the ability to work effectively in a team-fostered multi-tasking environment.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The normal work schedule is between 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday (or as agreed to by Management).
  • Serve in an On-Call rotation with 24/7 availability to handle any problems that may arise
  • Less than 10% overnight travel
