Position Summary
The Systems Engineer applies a working knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals to provide guidance to the division's engineering and design activities under the direction of a Program Manager. The Systems Engineer will be required to interact with other OTECH personnel and the client to guide engineering efforts to meet the client's requirements. The Systems Engineer will provide guidance to engineering design efforts through the development of systems engineering documentation, including: concepts of operations, requirements specifications, interface control documents and drawings, hazard analysis, test plans and procedures.
Duties And Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL :
- Working under the guidance of a seasoned SE:Generates user requirements, concept of operations documents, and assists in development of high level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications.
- Prepares concept of operations, interface control documents, hazard analysis, and test plans and procedures.
- Displays excellent technical judgment, attention to detail, and ability to look at the "big picture" in system design
- Demonstrates ability to devise innovative solutions to problems.
- Provides content to reports that will be presented to management and client.
- Some travel may be required.
ADDITIONAL: Additional duties as assigned may include support to some of the following tasks:
- Requirements Analysis and Development:
- Translate operational needs into clear, testable technical requirements.
- Conduct requirements functional decomposition, allocation, and traceability.
- Participate in system requirements reviews, preliminary design reviews, and critical design reviews.
- Systems Engineering Lifecycle Management:
- Support the development of technical plans and documents.
- Manage risks and issues throughout the acquisition lifecycle.
- Review technical data and test plans.
- Integration and Interoperability:
- Support the integration and interoperability of multiple systems to function as a cohesive system of systems.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, program managers, and stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain strong communication skills to effectively convey technical information.
- Technical Expertise:
- Possess strong technical skills in systems engineering principles and practices.
- Maintain knowledge of relevant regulations, policies, and operating instructions.
- Test and Evaluation:
- Assist in designing, planning, executing, analyzing, reporting, and documenting test and evaluation efforts.
- Ensure that systems, subsystems, components, and equipment meet performance requirements as set forth in a Requirements Verification and Traceability Matrix (RVTM).
- Urgent Capability Acquisition (UCA) Focus:
- Understand the unique challenges and requirements of Urgent Capability Acquisition (UCA) pathways.
- Focus on rapid acquisition and deployment of capabilities to meet urgent operational needs.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including technical plans, reports, and procedures.
- Track the status of risk and issue resolution.
Qualifications
REQUIRED:
- BS degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical or Systems Engineering.
- Minimum 0-2 years of practical experience in Systems Engineering.
- Experience with:
- contributing to the development of sections of systems engineering documentation, including system engineering plans, requirements, specifications, and interface control documents
- contributing to the development of system requirements and derived requirements.
- assisting with the development of system requirements, functional requirements, and allocation of the same to individual hardware, software, facility, and personnel components
- participating in the development of system engineering documentation, including system engineering plans, initial capabilities documents, requirements specifications, and interface control documents
- Candidate will have to perform in an ISO-9000 rated company in a rapidly changing and demanding atmosphere.
- US citizen, Must be able to obtain security clearance.
COMPUTER SKILLS :
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 environment.
- Working knowledge with an SEDB tool (CRADLE, DOORS etc).
- Working knowledge of MBSE tools (ModelCenter, Cameo)
PREFERRED :
- Work experience with US Department of Defense (DoD) or the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
- Specific to UCA:Experience with rapid prototyping, agile development methodologies, and time-sensitive acquisition processes.
- An active DoD "SECRET" clearance or higher.
- Master's degree in Systems Engineering preferred.
- Ability to grow / enhance a process or product by applying your own unique skillset and perspective.
- May be widely recognized for achievements, technical expertise, and professional standing within selected field.
Additional Information
This position is Hybrid - Remote and will require commuting to a designated office. Hybrid work schedules are determined by the hiring manager based on business need. PAY, BENEFITS AND WORK SCHEDULE: We offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits package. Annualized pay for this position : $63,750-$86,250.
