Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position is $76,000 - $90,250. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. About the Role:

Provide GFSE Support to JRTC, NTC and GF-N

Additional Responsibilities Include, but are not Limited To:



  • Integrate with the 57 OG operational planning teams with the three (3) GF location operations planning teams, as required, to provide exercise life-cycle planning support, as defined by the squadron Directors of Operations (DOs) to plan and execute GF-N, NTC, JRTC, higher headquarters (HHQ), and other air-surface integration exercises, as required.


  • JRTC, NTC, and GF-N exercise ASOC and CAOC operations:


  • ASOC emulation from Training Day (TD) 1 through End of Exercise (EoE), as required, during exercise execution (including providing 24/7 support during the Force-on-Force phase of the exercise and assisting with aircraft control during this period).


  • ASOC equipment set-up and operational checks, ASOC product preparation during Reception, Staging, Onward Movement and Integration (RSOI) and technical analysis/support before, during, and after each exercise (TD-1 thru Battle Recovery Day (BRD) - 5/Change of Mission (COM)).


  • Responsible for the operational level management and operate as the liaison between the GF program staff as well as the NTC and JRTC staffs, assist with Control and Reporting Center (CRC) operations, and collateral level entities of the Theater Air Control System (TACS) Air Operations Center (AOC).


  • Utilizing current combat equipment in various training scenarios, enhance tactical and operational realistic training.


  • Provide a capability to part-task-train, instruct, and assess operational ASOC units in conjunction with GF exercises.


  • Technical Support:


  • Provide management assistance in both the development and collection of exercise data. Provide the process method to collect data.


  • Manage and monitor two (2) simultaneously executing training scenarios to assist with exercise execution and data collection during two (2) vulnerability periods per exercise day


  • Simultaneously monitor radio communication on separate frequencies and collect all data related to each of the two (2) events.


  • Command Post Computing Environment (CPCE): Operate 2D/3D maps, command and control functions, develop briefings for customer and utilization of computerized briefing systems.


  • Individual Combat Aircrew Display System (ICADS) and/or Simulation Display (SIMDIS) as utilized by the 57 OG and directed by 57 OG staff: Utilize ICADS and SIMDIS map features, filter in/out map overlays and blue/red forces, select and operate tactical radio frequencies in accordance with customer processes and procedures.


  • Provide basic constructive Close Air Support (CAS) emulation, as needed, and identified in the ATO throughout exercise execution in the absence of live air assets.


  • Utilizing an existing Government provided instrumentation suite, possess and provide expertise to adjudicate air-to-surface delivery and surface-to-air (air defense artillery (ADA), surface to air missile (SAM)) BDA for 57 OG and deployed unit leadership.


  • At Fort Johnson, LA - technically capable to operate and/or perform:


  • Tactical Air Control Party Close Air Support System (TACP-CASS): Set-up procedures with PRC-117 tactical radios, develop and load mission planners to allow for digital communications between the ASOC and TACPs, process immediate DD 1972s, free text messages, situational reports, battle-track friendly TACPs, and send Jseries messages.


  • Tactical Radios: Operate and trouble-shoot tactical radios including loading crypto for communication equipment contained within visiting ASOS deployment kit.


  • Chat: Operate appropriate tactical chat program, instant messaging to communicate with replicated Theater Air-Ground System/Army Air-Ground entities.


  • Manage/update web-based programs with current ASOC rotational content, as appropriate/applicable.


  • Operate Combat Training Center Instrumentation System (CTC-IS): Utilize FalconView mapping software application, run "real time" application to track blue and red forces, select specific entities to track their Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System (MILES) and adjudicate battle damage assessment (BDA).


  • Communication Security: Handle, safeguard, and destroy COMSEC IAW governing regulations and directives, operate the simple Key Loader (SKL).


  • Range Procedures: Become familiar with appropriate ranges, attend range safety class, battle track TACPs and GF personnel on the range, operate radio control system two-way communication, coordinate with G-3 operations battle captain and live-fire trainers to allow for safety of movement and personnel.


  • Data Collection, Exercise Debrief, Lessons Learned Support:


  • GFSE Analysts will utilize the GF Database. GFSE will prepare the database with exercise and mission-specific information prior to each exercise. GFSE analysts will use the database to collect mission data during each exercise vulnerability period (vul). GFSE analysts will be able to extract reports and detailed mission data for each exercise in order to provide inputs to various post-exercise products such as the AAR. Maintain an operating back-end database, make backups of

    data, and ensure availability of AAR info in perpetuity.


  • At Fort Johnson:


  • Cooperate to provide "ground truth" battle event analysis (both ground and air perspective).


  • Assist the customer to facilitate debriefing sessions between ground forces and aircrews, as required.


  • At the 548 CTS and 549 CTS collect, collate, and prepare instrumented, analyzed post-battle information (via multi-media presentation) for use in aircrew debrief.


  • At Fort Johnson - collect, collate, analyze, and prepare data for post-battle after action review/debriefing with USAF ground participants and U.S. Army Brigade Staff.


  • Provide an interface within 57 OG to categorize and document air-surface integration and interoperability lessons learned, tactics, techniques and procedures, doctrine development, and institutional crosstalk. Information utilized in this task shall be obtained via exercise participation as well as various other broad-spectrum air-surface related exercise after action report, combat lessons learned, and doctrinal source information.


  • Collect, collate, and prepare data for use in take-home exercise packages presented to 57 OG leadership following each exercise. Packages shall contain air-surface integration related exercise information and metrics.


  • Additionally, data collected during each exercise shall be

    incorporated into a lessons learned program. Said information shall also

    serve as the nucleus for the 57 OG SharePoint or website, as appropriate.


  • Forward after-action review package information to the 57 OG leadership for dissemination to the appropriate agencies and organizations for world-wide US military accessibility.


  • Assist with the assembly and distribution of air-surface integration related post-rotation exercise "Take Home Package" to exercise participant's unit leadership.


  • Perform other duties, as assigned.


Experience Requirements:



  • Experience as a rated officer liaising with ground elements and integrating air operations into military operations
  • Experience in tactical, military aviation conducting close air support, dynamic targeting, or other related operations integrated closely with surface elements.
  • Experience includes controlling attack aviation in military operations.
  • Experience working in an Air Support Operations Center or service- equivalent command and control node supporting air operations integrated with surface elements.
  • At least five (5) years of Naval Surface Warfare (SUW) experience.
  • Experience with air operations in maritime surface warfare (AOMSW) highly desired.
  • Individual should be knowledgeable in Distributed Maritime Operations (DMO), Littoral Operations in a Contested Environment, and Agile Combat Employment (ACE).
  • Individual must be familiar with current joint doctrinal guidance on AOMSW.
  • Experience with planning and executing search and rescue and personnel recovery operations and familiar with current USAF doctrinal guidance on personnel recovery tactics.
  • Must be familiar with rescue equipment used by aircrew and aircraft, Common Distress Reporting System (CDRS), and Personnel Recovery Management System (PRMS), Joint Publication 3- 50, and current TTPs.
  • USAF Rescue squadron experience highly desired.
  • Air Support Operations Center (ASOC) experience is highly desired


Education Requirements:



  • High School Diploma Required

  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred
