Covia is looking for a Maintenance Planner who will have a positive impact on the Operations team at our Junction City, GA facility. As a Maintenance Planner, you will be responsible for planning the day-to-day maintenance activities of the site by partnering with plant leadership and utilizing data from multiple sources to improve operating outcomes that meet Covia's production and safety guidelines.
The successful candidate will have the following Key Accountabilities:
- Ensure EHS compliance and adherence to internal standards for safe and sustainable operations.
- Work with site personnel to implement and maintain Condition-based (CBM)/Predictive maintenance (PdM) strategies for our critical equipment classes.
- Be responsible for planning, implementation and administration of Covia's Controlled Maintenance Program at the site and maintain the Plant Specific Controlled Maintenance Program manual including:
- Preventive maintenance (PM) program. Maintain and modify PM schedules as needed.
- Create and facilitate Emergency work orders
- Create work orders based on condition monitoring from observations and input from production personnel.
- Equipment modification and installation.
- Predictive maintenance program.
- Quality and performance monitoring.
- Cost monitoring.
- Routinely access and query the CMMS (IFS) and other equipment databases for data analysis. Develop and maintain maintenance Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
- Update equipment data, documentation and Preventative Maintenance tasks in CMMS (IFS).
- Create and continually update Job Summaries for standard jobs to include: Job steps, safety pre-cautions like permits, Parts List, Tools needed.
- Plan and schedule activities of maintenance personnel to achieve efficient utilization of manpower, materials, and facilities.
- Schedule maintenance of process equipment to avoid conflict with production and to avoid breakdowns.
- Recommend job training, safety, and housekeeping within the maintenance function.
- Recommend changes in standards, work methods, and procedures to improve maintenance performance, productivity, and profitability.
- Recommend equipment and process modifications to improve efficiencies.
- Maintain open communications with superiors both verbally and by written report.
- Coordinate and plan work with outside contractors as directed.
- Assign and reserve parts for work orders. Create purchase requisitions as needed.
- Work closely with the Supply Chain personnel to ensure adequate supply of maintenance supplies and also to ensure cost effective procurement of high-quality maintenance parts and supplies.
- Develop and maintain a Critical Spare Parts list along with Supply Chain personnel.
- Participate in Equipment Criticality Assessments, Critical Spares Analyses, and Root Cause Analyses.
- Ensure repairs, repair techniques and equipment specific training are documented, made available and ensure standards are followed.
- Support Maintenance Supervisor/Superintendent during job execution.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will have the following Minimum Qualifications:
- Two-year associate's Technical Degree with 3-5 years of experience as maintenance planner and/or scheduler
- Or 5-7 years related experience with no Technical Degree
- Prior experience with inventory management preferred
- Self-motivated to resolve challenges and circumvent obstacles
- Openly discuss opportunities to improve the performance of the business
- Strong communication skills are essential.
