Provides positive leadership in daily work activities. Leads staff in following effective and efficient quality of care processes, policies, and procedures.
Schedule: 8:00 AM-4:30 PM with some flexibility

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Oversees daily activities and delegates responsibilities/tasks equitably among the staff.
- Assesses personal workload and adjusts priorities to help others.
- Adjusts staffing levels to meet the needs of the department, while controlling costs.
- Establishes a comprehensive orientation program based on outcomes and individual knowledge/experience of staff members.
- Maintains positive relationships between hospitals, ancillary departments, and clinics.
- Assures that the standards of operation of the department are in compliance with all hospital and departmental infection control policies and procedures, standards and regulatory requirements.
- Assures accurate sterilization and monitoring logs per AAMI standards and company IFU's.
- Ensures appropriate instruments are available and properly functioning.
- Assists with efficient turnover of OR by providing instruments that are processed timely to ensure throughput.
- Manages the instrument tracking system.
- Assures sterile processing and storage areas are clean, sanitary and organized. Maintains stock of supplies as needed for processing and controlling expense. Assures appropriate par levels in areas of responsibility.
- Participates in decision making and research of instrumentation acquisition.
- Prepares surgical instrument trays for various surgical procedures.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure proper procedures are being followed.
- Provides input into budget.
- Works in collaboration with leadership to achieve best practices in sterilization.
- Collaborates with clinics and hospital departments to ensure availability of necessary instruments.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to read and comprehend sterilization logs to ensure sterilization procedures have been followed.
- Ability to work well under time constraints.
- Ability to independently manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to apply knowledge of surgical instruments identification.
- Ability to operate autoclave, washer/sterilizer, various medical and surgical equipment, instruments, and delivery carts
- Leadership and organizational skills.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of three years of sterile processing experience required.
- Certification as Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of two years management experience preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, EQUIPMENT USAGE, WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Medium Work: exerting from 20 pounds of force frequently up to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects: must have mobility of all extremities to push, pull, and/or lift equipment and instrumentation; may stand for long periods of time; able to perform repetitive motions. The worker must be able to visualize sterilization printouts and display monitor to interpret and record testing and validation of sterilization process and instrument logs; visually inspect and maintain integrity of instruments. The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes. Subject to noise sufficient to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level. Exposure to high heat and/or chemical. Will use office equipment such as a computer/laptop, monitor, keyboard, and a general workstation set-up.
