Application Window Open date: June 4, 2025 Next review date: Thursday, Jun 19, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Friday, Dec 4, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description Junior Specialist Department of Dermatology The junior research specialist position is in the Bastian lab in the Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center at Mission Bay. The research projects are focused on melanoma disease mechanisms and involve collecting patient samples, culturing cell lines and working with mouse models. Applicants who intend to participate in research before applying to graduate school are encouraged to apply. The specialist will perform molecular biology (nucleic acid extraction, PCR, animal genotyping, Western blot) and staining techniques for tissues and cells (immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, light microscopy, etc). In addition, the specialist will assist with animal experiments (handling, anesthesia, injections, colony maintenance, breeding, euthanasia, tissue harvesting, simple surgery). Additional tasks include ordering and stocking laboratory supplies and assisting with general laboratory maintenance and compliance.
