Stormwater Management Facilities Inspector



  • Independently plan, coordinate, inspect, and oversee project inspection activities of roadway, structure, and bridge, maintenance projects.
  • Monitor contractors and schedules to ensure quality control and contract compliance of moderate to complex construction projects and advise contractors of violations and recommend adjustments to operations.
  • Apply knowledge and experience toward the inspection of Stormwater Management Facilities
  • Apply engineering principles in the inspection and documentation of construction activities and make field measurements of pay items.
  • Recommend changes to construction plans to meet field conditions or provide cost savings.
  • Apply Best Management Practices to environmental inspection activities using DEQ standards and specifications.
  • Apply Best Management Practices to safety activities.
  • Attend and Participate in the pre-construction meeting when directed to do so by the OCI.
  • Schedule, Organize, Conduct, and Document Progress Meetings. Prepare Meeting Minutes in Digital Format if required
  • Determine the adequacy of the construction contractors' personnel and equipment and the availability of materials and supplies to meet the schedule.
  • Review and recommend for approval the contractors progress payments.
  • Recommended to OCI necessary or desirable changes. Review request for changes based on comprehensive review of the contract documents, submit recommendations, and assist in negotiations.
  • Observe all the work done by the contractor.
  • Keep records of all shop drawings, samples, purchases, materials, equipment, maintenance and operating manuals and instructions as well as any other related documents.
  • Check the materials, equipment, and labor entering the work and maintain daily records of the items.
  • Prepare daily field Reports to document inspection activities. Reports and test results to be submitted to client.
  • Verify that the project is constructed in accordance with the plans and specifications and provide daily inspection (Concrete, CMU, Steel, earthwork, piping, valves,).
  • Review discrepancies, report discrepancies to the County, and observe the corrections made by the Contractor. Make recommendations on corrective action on performance, non-compliant work, and safety.
  • Review and verify all work and required documentation needed for project closeout.


2-5 Years Experience in the inspection of Stormwater Management Facilities

Must be current with the following certs or able to obtain

Erosion and Sediment Control (MDE)

10-Hour OSHA

Temporary Traffic Certification

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Valid driver's license

Able to work days, nights and weekends
