Sentry Equipment is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer responsible for development and implementation of plans, procedures and actions necessary to increase productivity, increase product quality, improve shipment accuracy, and make training more effective. Responsibilities:

  • Drive continuous improvement necessary to increase productivity, increase product quality and consistency, or to reduce costs.
  • Analyze manufacturing data (labor, material, defect reports, tooling costs) to determine manufacturing improvement priorities and strategies.
  • Conduct time studies with a view of improving utilization.
  • Handle all labor operations issues including initial estimates of labor hours and sequence of operations.
  • Make changes to drawings, BOMs/MOMs, and Work Instructions that do not affect the performance, or rating of, the finished product. If needed, seek input from business unit engineering before implementing a change.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to establish quality systems and procedures that assure all processed components conform to requirements.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to improve design for manufacturability and to train and update engineering on current manufacturing skill levels.
  • Technical interface in supplier development, including auditing supplier capabilities, and resolving technical issues.
  • Develop and implement plans necessary to maintain/improve company facilities, properties, and equipment. Specify, research, and requisition needed items.
  • Support root cause investigations, 5S, and lean initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial engineering degree preferred; applicable experience may substitute
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a high mix, low volume manufacturing environment or M.S. in Manufacturing Engineering
  • Experience with ISO-9000 and/or other quality programs
  • Knowledge of metal machining, welding, testing, assembly, GD&T, inspection procedures, material handling, and related manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of lean, cell, and quick response manufacturing.
  • Experience with Six Sigma process, Green Belt Certified preferred
  • Knowledge of CNC and robot programming and/or CAM
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems
  • Ability to work in a self-directed environment.
  • Organization skills; able to establish priorities; handle multiple tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; flexibility and willingness to assist employees as needed.
