Compensation: $50/hr. - based on skills and experience

Position Summary

The Physician Assistant (PA) Department at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science is seeking a part-time, adjunct faculty member. This individual's primary role will be a lab instructor for HPAS 513 Physical Assessment course during the Fall Quarter, and HPAS 523 Clinical Procedures course in the Spring Quarter. The role includes teaching and assessment of physical exam skills, preparing PA students for successful completion of the standardized Head-to-Toe (HTT) Final Practical Exam, and teaching proper technique for a variety of clinical procedures.

The interprofessional focus of the PA Program, and throughout Rosalind Franklin University, prepares our students to practice as members of effective healthcare teams in a wide range of medical specialties and settings.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Instruction of physical examination skills in a lab setting
  • Review of instructional materials and implementation of established curriculum
  • Advising students on proper examination technique and safe use of physical examination equipment
  • Grading SOAP notes
  • Assessment of physical examination skills upon completion of weekly lab
  • Instruction of various clinical procedures in a lab setting
  • Advising students on proper procedural technique and safe us of equipment
  • Assessment of procedural techniques upon completion of weekly lab

Conditions of Employment

  • Must achieve satisfactory results from a background check

Required Education & Experience

  • Master's degree
  • Direct patient care healthcare experience as a physician or PA

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills of physical examination techniques
  • Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students
  • Interact professionally with diverse populations
  • Display professionalism and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the program's continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Physician Assistant (PA) with current NCCPA certification and Illinois Physician Assistant license (or eligible)
  • Physician with current board certification and Illinois license (or eligible)
