PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Principle Mechanical Engineer I will be responsible for developing the mechanical design of the product and working with operations team in the integration of the product.

This position is contingent upon contract award.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Oversee the mechanical design for multiple projects simultaneously.
* Understand, utilize, and improve internal processes and tools for the development of new systems
* Collaborate with the lead project engineers, chief engineer, and engineering design teams to ensure that mechanical systems meet the safety of flight needs and that the resulting product operates as intended.
* Develop mechanical fabrication and installation drawing, creation of removal instructions for existing components and installation instructions of new avionics and aircraft systems to ensure product will meet requirements.
* Assist in the creation of technical manual updates.
* Provide leadership and mentoring to a multi-discipline/multi-product engineering team.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Individual contributor working under the direction of technical leadership.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
* Being a highly self-motivated individual and able to contribute to a positive work environment.
* Experience in presenting to end-user customers and clients in both written and verbal formats.
* In depth knowledge of tools such as Solid Works, CATIA, and Microsoft Office Suite including the ability to mentor junior engineers in their use.
* Have significant domain knowledge in mechanical design, integration of equipment and aircraft modification tasks.
* Experience in creating stress/structural analyses, weight and balance analyses, vibration analyses, fatigue analyses finite element analysis, and modal analyses.
* Experience in creating safety documents (Functional Hazard Analysis, System Safety Assessment, and System Safety Hazard Analysis).
* In depth knowledge of MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-882, ARP-4754A, ARP-4761 and MIL-HDBK-516C.
* Ability to meet deadlines

QUALIFICATIONS:
* A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution and a minimum of eleven (11) years of relevant experience or ten (10) years of relevant experience with a Master's degree in a STEM related field.
* Previous experience with military or civil fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft.
* Ability to travel up to 10%.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance
* Ability to pass a drug and background screening
