The Team:

The Development and Production Coordinator for the SVP is part of the Mattel Films team, which is charged with developing and producing theatrical films for the Mattel Brand. Drawing from existing Mattel IP as well as original pitches, Mattel Films has a wide range of active projects, spanning all genres. Current projects in various stages of development including BARBIE, MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE, HOT WHEELS, and BARNEY

The Opportunity:

The Development and Production Coordinator reports directly to SVP of the department. Daily tasks include scheduling, call rolling, creative input, and general management of the SVP's desk. Candidate must be able to handle large work volume of typical coordinator duties on top of being able to weigh in on projects and ideas creatively.

What Your Impact Will Be:

  • Coordination of Film Department schedules, meetings, and calls
  • Manage a busy schedule and calendar; the SVP has multiple meetings with direct reports, colleagues and external partners
  • Manage heavy internal and external call volume, providing clarity and priority of information to the SVP for follow-up
  • Schedule weekly status meetings and other recurring meetings
  • Read internal creative materials under tight deadlines under consideration for Mattel Studios while maintaining strict confidentiality
  • Complete and submit expense reports for SVP
  • Gather project information and requests to route for SVP approval
  • Arrange travel including air, hotel, ground transportation, as needed
  • Prioritize SVP's schedule based on knowledge of needs & priorities
  • Filing, phone coverage, booking meeting rooms, and supply management for internal office site needs
  • Handle multiple tasks and projects, with the ability to grow as a project management professional
  • Communicate with the SVP on a daily basis, prioritizing messages and requests that come across the desk
  • Personal tasks including getting lunch when calendar schedule requires
  • Creative input on all Mattel film projects
  • Connection with other industry professionals, to bring new potential collaborators to the department
  • Interact with / collaborate with the other assistants and cross-functional teams
  • Assist broader team when necessary
  • Work a full five-day week schedule with a minimum of four days a week in-person out of Mattel's El Segundo office

What We're Looking For:

  • Industry knowledge and an understanding of the current entertainment business and climate are a must

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with internal and external partners

  • Self-starter with a proactive mindset and strong organizational skills

  • High attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills, including phone skills

  • Desire to produce or become a development executive

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • A degree in film or television or an equivalent discipline is preferred but not required

  • Demonstrated agrowth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.

The base hourly rate for this position is between$35.75 and $44.70
