The Role and Team

The Finance & HCM Apps team is part of Medallia Global IT's Enterprise Applications & Analytics function and is responsible for developing, implementing, enhancing, managing, and supporting the Finance and Human Capital Management (HCM) applications that enable Medallia's business processes.

As the Senior Director, Finance & HCM Apps, you will be responsible for leading the team that optimizes our ERP and HCM business processes and technology landscape to support the company's global operations and growth. Your role will involve strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and team development to ensure the effective utilization of enterprise applications. You will lead the engagement with our Finance and People & Culture business partners, as well as other applications, data, and infrastructure teams, to evolve and scale solutions to best fit Medallia's business needs.

Combining leadership skills and a hands-on style, you'll utilize your creativity and innovation to develop new approaches for enterprise applications integration, workflow automation, performance optimization, and overall solution architecture to improve our current financial systems, human capital management, and integration landscape with the goal of delivering business process efficiency and an improved user experience.


Responsibilities

  • Stakeholder Engagement and Technology Strategy
    • Serve as a strategic advisor to our Finance, People & Culture, and IT leaders, translating complex business needs into scalable, maintainable solutions leveraging NetSuite, Workday, and other related Finance and HCM applications.
    • Lead the vision, strategy, and technology roadmap to enable core financial and human capital management business processes.
    • Partner directly with the global Finance and People & Culture teams to translate business requirements into creative and effective technical / functional designs and systems architecture.
    • Partner with stakeholders to define problem statements, assess business impact, and ensure alignment between technology investments and business priorities.
    • Collaborate and build effective working relationships across the organization.
  • Leadership of Finance and HCM Solution teams
    • Team Building: Recruit, develop, and manage a high-performing team of enterprise application specialists, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
    • Lead a team of internal techno-functional and external managed services / staff augmentation resources in development and support activities, as well as participating hands-on in the ongoing development, support, troubleshooting, and maintenance of NetSuite configurations and integrations.
    • Lead the collaboration between your team and cross-functional teams and vendors to: gather requirements; analyze workflows and data needs; identify opportunities for people, process, and technology improvements; and, prioritize and refine requested improvements.
  • Enterprise Architecture and Solution Delivery
    • ERP System Leadership: Oversee the management and optimization of our global ERP systems, ensuring they effectively support Finance, Procurement, Payroll, and Product Lifecycle Management functions.
    • HCM Systems Leadership: Bring a working knowledge of HRIS systems, such as Workday HCM, Talent Management, Compensation and Benefits, and Recruiting to ensure the alignment of HR processes with enterprise applications.
    • Bring deep subject matter expertise in enterprise application management, including best practices, industry trends, and emerging technologies, to inform strategic decision-making.
    • Lead the re-implementation of our NetSuite instance to better support our Order to Cash needs, especially re: Revenue Recognition and Billing.
    • Establish and maintain best practices, standards, and processes for application development, deployment, and support.
    • Ensure that new project and product requests are assessed for their strategic fit, technical feasibility, and alignment with enterprise system architecture.
    • Provide architectural leadership on build vs. buy decisions, managing technical debt, scalability, and performance trade-offs.
    • Act as a thought partner to senior leadership and a mentor to Finance and HCM techno-functional team members and business analysts, fostering a culture of continuous learning and architectural excellence.
    • Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends, identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement.
    • Be accountable for the selection, customization, and integration of new applications, ensuring they meet business needs and are compatible with existing systems.
    • Drive change management initiatives to ensure smooth adoption of new systems, processes, and technologies across the organization.
  • Service Line Management
    • Develop and manage the departmental budget, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently and effectively.
    • Manage spending and the forecast related to the Finance & HCM Apps service delivery.
    • Optimize spend to deliver business value relative to the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
    • Select, manage, and collaborate with external vendors and partners to ensure the effective implementation, maintenance, and support of enterprise applications.
    • Manage Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans for business applications.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience designing and implementing medium to large-scale business systems and components in the realm of ERP and integrations.
  • 3+ years of experience in NetSuite solution implementation, application administration, and support.
  • 3+ years of program or project management experience delivering financial SaaS solutions.
  • Familiarity with Order to Cash (OTC), Procure to Pay (P2P), and Record to Report processes and controls.
  • Demonstrated experience with software and services revenue recognition and billing.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience re-implementing NetSuite, removing technical debt and improving capabilities.
  • Workday HCM configuration, implementation, and support experience.
  • Experience in independently architecting and developing data synchronization solutions across NetSuite and other systems - previous experience using Dell Boomi is a plus.
  • Program / Project management expertise - consistently delivering projects and tasks on time and to specification.
  • Experience with NetSuite SuiteCloud development tools such as SuiteBuilder, SuiteFlow, SuiteAnalytics, and SuiteScript to develop new and maintain existing business workflows.
  • Experience with NetSuite ARM and SuiteBilling.
    Experience in system integrations tools such as SuiteTalk, RESTlets and Netsuite SOAP APIs
  • Strong knowledge of the technology stack and available solutions for managing financials and HCM.
  • Experience working in a SaaS and professional services delivery company.

Medallia is committed to equal pay and transparency. The annual base salary range for this position is $168,000 - 284,000 USD. This position is bonus eligible. Please note that the salary range information provided is a general guideline and combines all of the distinct labor markets within the US. It is uncommon for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on a variety of factors. Medallia considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, candidate's work location, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, external market data, as well as, market and business considerations when making compensation decisions.
