POSITION SPECIFICS

The Information Technology Service Desk (ITSD) ofPenn State IT is looking for self-disciplined and highly motivated individuals for the role of Support Level IT Support Specialist to provide tier-one customer support to students, faculty, and staff of the Pennsylvania State University.

ITSD is seeking applicants for the following shifts:

  • Sunday - Thursday 10AM-7PM EST

LOCATION

The location of this position is flexible and can operate fully remote within the United States.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responding to phone calls, chat support, and email tickets to ensure each customeralways receives outstanding service

  • Addressing and resolving questions, completing appropriate tracking,and routing within an incident tracking tool

  • Contributing to documentation and frequently asked questions (FAQs)

  • Participates in projects and tasks as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstration of exceptional customer service skills

  • Basic problem-solving skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Attention to detail

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or High School (HS) No prior relevant work experience required; previous relevant work experience accepted in lieu of education. Required Certifications: None

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Penn State will provide the necessary equipment includinga laptop, two monitors, keyboard, mouse,andheadset. Penn State also provides the software you will need, including asecureVPN andprogramsneeded to perform the duties of this position. Our Service Desk operates as a teamand due to the nature of remote work, there is an expectationof proactive communication to stay connectedwiththe team and managers.The IT Support Specialist is expected toattend virtual daily stand-up meetings,monthly staff meetings,and other meetings as announced.

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. Penn State does not sponsor or take over sponsorship of a staff employment Visa. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $42,100.00 - $61,000.00.
