Responsibilities

University Behavioral Center, a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), is committed to providing intensive mental health services to children, adolescents and adults as well as detox and substance abuse programs for adults. Our mental health facility provides safe and effective inpatient treatment to assist individuals in leading more productive and fulfilling lives. The facility is located on a beautiful 14-acre campus in Orlando, Florida, and includes 112 licensed beds. We are currently seeking qualified professionals with active/clear license in the state of Florida. Previous experience in a psychiatric facility or rehabilitation program is required.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Behavioral Health Clinical Specialist is responsible for the coordination, development, and oversight of clinical operations within the Social Services department. This role ensures high-quality patient care by managing therapist-patient assignments, overseeing clinical training, and supporting case management efforts. The Clinical Specialist plays a key role in staff development, hiring, and scheduling to maintain efficient and effective behavioral health services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Therapist Scheduling & Coverage
  • Develop and manage the departmental therapist schedule to ensure adequate coverage for all patient care needs.
  • Coordinate time-off requests, shift adjustments, and on-call coverage as needed.
  • Therapist-Patient Assignment
  • Oversee daily therapist-patient caseload assignments based on acuity, clinical expertise, and patient needs.
  • Monitor caseload distribution to ensure balance and appropriate continuity of care.
  • Therapist Training & Development
  • Develop and facilitate onboarding and ongoing clinical training for therapists.
  • Support clinical supervision and identify opportunities for professional growth and development.
  • Case Management Oversight
  • Collaborate with therapists and interdisciplinary team members to ensure timely and effective case management.
  • Monitor documentation quality, discharge planning, and coordination of community resources.
  • Hiring & Staffing Support
  • Participate in the recruitment, interviewing, and selection of clinical staff.
  • Support new hire orientation and serve as a departmental mentor and resource.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to state, federal, and facility guidelines related to patient care and clinical practice.
  • Participate in audits, data collection, and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field required
  • Licensed or license-eligible in applicable clinical discipline (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, etc.)
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical behavioral health experience; supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices, case management, and interdisciplinary
