As we continue to grow, we're looking for a seasoned Senior Credit Officer to join our Commercial Banking team. This is your opportunity to step into a pivotal leadership role where your credit expertise, strategic insight, and mentorship will directly influence portfolio quality, risk management, and bottom-line results.

What You'll Do

As a key credit leader, you'll be an integral part of a team of credit approval professionals and partner closely with line-of-business leaders. Your primary mission? Ensure that credit decisions align with our policies and risk appetite while supporting smart, strategic growth.

  • Lead and develop a high-performing credit team- Coach, train, and evaluate Regional Credit Officers and staff. Share your deep understanding of commercial, personal, and specialized lending to enhance team capabilities.

  • Evaluate and approve large, complex commercial credit requests- With delegated credit authority (up to $20M depending on credit type), ensure requests are sound, structured, and consistent with ASBC policies and profitability goals.

  • Be a strategic partner to the Commercial Lending teams- Add value beyond the approval process. Provide real-time structuring advice and policy guidance that empowers Relationship Managers to win business while managing risk.

  • Monitor and manage portfolio quality- Use systems and data to evaluate Asset Quality Ratings (AQR), review annual maturities, financial reporting, compliance, and exceptions.

  • Support portfolio strategy and performance- Collaborate on AQR forecasting, credit quality metrics, concentration limits, and risk-adjusted portfolio composition.

  • Coach and mentor front-line bankers- Be a resource for Portfolio Managers and Relationship Managers through ongoing credit discussions and hands-on learning opportunities.

  • Contribute to M&A and integration efforts- Play a role in due diligence and onboarding of new portfolios or acquired institutions.

  • Be a talent builder and people-first leader- Hire, onboard, and grow top talent. Provide transparent, constructive feedback and support professional development.

What You Bring

  • 7+ yearsof experience in Credit Administration with direct approval/signature authority

  • Proven leadership of credit professionals in a commercial lending environment

  • Ability to make sound credit decisions that balance policy, risk, and client needs

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting (or equivalent experience)

  • Deep understanding of commercial banking, risk ratings, loan structuring, and regulatory requirements
