Overview
Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Flight Test Engineer - SE3 for the TMAS2_96TW Contract, supporting the Air Force Division. The individual works as a member of an integrated product team to develop and test new capabilities for the US Air Force. This position requires an individual with motivation and initiative to support developmental flight testing in a dynamic high-tempo environment. JOB DETAILS LOCATION: Eglin AFB, FL JOB STATUS: Full-Time TRAVEL: Travels to offsite locations to participate in meetings, conduct site surveys, and execute tests as required. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Active Secret Clearance is required.
- Bachelor's degree in applicable discipline and 3 - 10 years of related experience. Six years of applicable technical experience may be substituted for a BS degree (total 9 years) or four years' experience with an Associate's Degree (total 7 years).
- Must be able to pass a flight physical and perform test conductor duties during ground and flight test operations.
- This skill level typically performs all functional duties independently. Must be a self-motivated expert able to take responsibility for identifying, organizing, coordinating, and executing necessary tasks to the successful accomplishment of assigned duties.
- Must be able to work as part of an integrated test team.
- Must be able to work on and around aircraft during ground and flight test activities.
- Must be able to effectively communicate orally and possess technical writing skill.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications is required.
- COMSEC Responsible Officer experience highly desired.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- Expertise with US Air Force test and evaluation methodologies and processes is highly desirable.
- Experience with military fixed wing aircraft is highly desirable.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports the full-spectrum developmental test and evaluation (DT&E) of US Air Force Special Operations, Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR), Tactical Mobility, and Close Air Support (CAS) C-130 aircraft. Works within the guidelines established in Government approved test procedures, method of test (MOT), and go or no-go criteria.
- Activities include participation in test planning and execution, data collection and analysis, assessing systems effectiveness, and test reporting.
- Test support includes recommendation of system performance requirements, development of test objectives, development of test methods and detailed test procedures, development of specification data requirements, identification of instrumentation and test support equipment requirements, coordination with test support agencies and ranges, and other DT&E tasks.
- Reviews technical specifications and system design documents.
- Attends test planning meetings, technical interchange meetings, and system design reviews.
- Reviews and comments on programmatic documents to include test and evaluation master plans and qualification test procedures for systems under test.
- Coordinates with system program offices, using commands, and industry to define test methods and objectives, and to develop test plans and procedures.
- Writes technical reports to document test results and findings. Provides technical advice and assistance to military test directors.
- Conducts test hazard analyses to brief flight safety officers on critical aspects of flight profiles.
- Coordinates with test ranges and ground support activities to schedule test resources, airspace, ranges, facilities etc.
- Briefs test aircrew and support personnel on mission objectives, and duties and responsibilities to execute ground and flight test events.
- Conducts and directs test events, both on the ground and in flight, to accomplish planned test objectives.
- Analyzes test data to determine system performance and deficiencies; writes technical reports to document results and conclusions; briefs senior leaders; and makes programmatic recommendations.
- Travels to offsite locations to participate in meetings, conduct site surveys, and execute tests as required.
- Performs additional duties as a COMSEC Responsible Officer.
