Minimum Qualifications
Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include knowledge of and experience working with:

  • Designing with industry-standard software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Typography: Knowledge of/experience with typography principles, including font pairing, kerning, and leading.
  • Color Theory: needed to create harmonious and effective designs.
  • Familiarity of UGA Branding: Following the guidance of UGA Branding and the UGA Visual Style Guide when creating promotional assets.

Position Summary
This Marketing & Design Specialist will work with both UGA's Manufacturing Living Labs ( MLL) and UGA's Georgia Network for Electric Mobility ( GNEM) creating, sharing, and promoting the research and technology work being conducted and developed by both entities. This staff position will:

  • Design logos, style guides, and other visual elements that align with our brand identity to promote the developments in research and technology happening in both Living Labs and GNEM.
  • Create promotional materials for outreach, including banners, posters, brochures and flyers for displaying at regional and national events.
  • Develop online marketing using social media channels, including creating lab spotlights that highlight research and technology that is being developed in the lab, and outreach events for promoting UGA Manufacturing Living Labs and GNEM.
  • Participate in outreach events to promote and capture content material for MLL and GNEM.
  • Record, edit and promote visually appealing videos that promote activities and research happening in the lab.
  • Develop a series of educational videos that will be used to showcase manufacturing, technology families, and explain the processes being used and researched in the lab.
  • Assist GNEM and MLL Faculty and students with graphics for research publications and grant proposals.


This position has a limited term appointment term as funding is guaranteed until May 2026. The position may be extended beyond the initial term, contingent upon continued funding.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

  • Understand fundamental design principles including layout, composition, and visual hierarchy.
  • Communicate design ideas effectively with faculty, staff, students and collaborators.
  • Familiarity with social media outlets, online platforms, and digital marketing. Familiar/experienced with a camera, phone, or other recording device to capture photos and video for promotional materials.
  • Identify and solve design problems creatively.
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and online platforms for designing digital assets.
  • Work simultaneously on multiple projects, each with a different deadline.
