Join a leading academic medical center as a strategic IT leader in our Pathology department. We're seeking an experienced Manager to oversee the development, implementation, and support of departmental systems that serve clinical, academic, and research missions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of IT systems management for Pathology, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals
- Develop strategic system plans in collaboration with faculty, management, and ISS personnel
- Supervise, mentor, and motivate professional staff while managing internal and external resources
- Foster interdisciplinary collaboration across departments and levels
- Maintain open, consultative relationships to ensure optimal service and high-quality, cost-effective patient care
- Ensure regulatory compliance and reliable system performance
- Provide responsive leadership, including on-call support for critical issues
Your Impact
This role blends operational oversight with strategic vision and active collaboration. You'll help drive innovation and excellence in a complex environment that integrates clinical care, education, and research. This flexible hybrid role allows for a blend of remote and on-site work, requiring presence on-site as required by operational need.The required response time for this position to come on site to work is 12 hours. As such, the manager is expected to be on site when requested within in 12 hours of being notified. The response time is based on standard hours, NOT standard business hours. The MINIMUM required on site time for this position is 5% (3 days) - 10% (6 days) per quarter. This means that the manager may be required to come on site more frequently, but it will be no less 5% (3 days) - 10% (6 days) per quarter.
Please note, travel to the "home office" location is not reimbursed. Each employee will complete a FlexWork Agreement with their manager to outline expectations and ensure mutual understanding. These arrangements are periodically reviewed and may be adjusted or terminated as necessary. Salary offers are based on a variety of factors including qualifications, experience, and internal equity. The full salary range for this position is $124,600 - $289,400 annually. The University anticipates offering a salary between the minimum and midpoint of this range.
Qualifications
* Ten or more years of experience in the management of a complex IS department * Experience balancing and prioritizing the technological and operational needs of IS against the financial budget of the overall department. * Working knowledge of Pathology Laboratory operations and laboratory science and working knowledge of system performance and documentation requirements for laboratory accrediting and licensing agencies * Master's Degree in Hospital Administration, Business Administration, Computer Science or related field preferred
- Current Epic Beaker AP and Beaker CP certification required
- Project Management experience
- Thorough understanding of the demands of a competitive managed care market as they relate to the operations of a clinical department
- Ability to motivate and lead a large staff and work productively, collegially and effectively with physician leadership
- Ability to provide technology vision that substantially contributes to strategic planning initiatives
- Ability to analyze complex end-user clinical and business needs and devise cost efficient solutions
- Ability to plan, develop, and implement short range and long-range project plans
- Demonstrated ability to write clear, precise, detailed, comprehensive, and grammatically correct letters, memos, reports, policies and procedures
- Demonstrated ability to design, implement and manage a 24/7 multi-site clinical information system
- Working knowledge of industry standard computing environments such as Microsoft Windows, Windows Server, Microsoft SQL, Linux/UNIX, Virtual Server and Cloud Hosting environments
- Demonstrated ability to work with external organizations and vendors in obtaining and coordinating services
- Skill to identify and evaluate new technological developments and gauging their appropriateness for the department
- Understanding of a multi-vendor system environment where clinical data is communicated between systems utilizing standard protocols such as HL7 or ASTM
- Working knowledge of computer systems and applications for clinical laboratories, blood bank, pathology, genomics and genetics workflows
- Knowledge of software development tools and languages including C#, Visual Basic, M (MUMPS), Pascal etc.
