Data Engineer (Senior / Lead)
Office hybrid in San Francisco, Seattle or Indianapolis

Salesforce is embarking on our own Digital Transformation to deliver customer success for our customers and accelerate our growth. A key pillar of this transformation is to build data platforms and automated data pipelines to provide data-driven insights and recommendations to support the growth in Marketing.

We are looking for a Data engineer who has experience building data pipelines and metrics for Sales or Marketing organizations. In this role, you will work with business partners across Marketing functions to understand business needs, translate them to technical requirements, wrangle data from various systems, and design automated data pipelines to drive insights on Salesforce Data Cloud product. You will work with internal technology groups to automate the data collection and definition process.

The Data Engineer will also be responsible end-to-end data management activities, including but not limited to identify fields, data lineage and integration, performing data quality checks, analysis and presenting data on Salesforce Data Cloud as platform/product.

Your Impact:

  • Actively develop and maintain data pipelines and workflows problem scoping, data cleaning, analysis, and testing on Salesforce Data Cloud.
  • You will create the vision for Data and Data Warehousing across a product vertical and create a plan to achieve that vision on Salesforce Data Cloud.
  • Own the interaction between IT Data teams to automate the processes.
  • Manage launching data models into production
  • Design & develop easy, repeatable and reusable automation for projects
  • Manage and own data warehouse plans across Marketing
  • Review and validate logical and physical design to ensure alignment with the defined solution architecture.Review solution design and ensure that the defined standards and framework are followed.
  • Evaluate, determine root cause and resolve critical issues.
  • Work with internal team members and external partners to support data collection and analysis and understand reporting needs
  • Collaborate with Data Science teams and support them with all the data they would need to produce their models.

Required Skills:

  • 6+ years related information systems experience in a data engineering, data modeling, automation and analytics
  • A related technical degree required
  • Deep understanding of data engineering concepts, database designs ,associated tools, system components, internal processes and architecture. .
  • Experience working as a solution designer in a customer-focused team
  • Strong experience in writing and maintaining complex ETL (MuleSoft, Jitterbit, Informatica, etc.)
  • Experience working closely with Analytics/Data Science teams
  • Proficiency with SQL, Bash and Python scripting
  • Proficiency with Airflow for orchestrating complex pipelines
  • Proficiency with API based real time ingestions
  • Experience with AWS Lambdas for triggering real time pipelines using platform events
  • Knowledge on Salesforce development tech stack like Flows, Apex etc. a plus
  • Experience with Marketing technology, Salesforce Data models or Data Cloud is a huge plus
