About the Job

Key Dates:

  • August 27: 4:30-5:30pm: Staff Training

Duties/Responsibilities: As a member of the Technological Leadership Institute's (TLI) Student Services Team, this position will primarily support the three Master's programs at TLI, which hold classes Monday through Thursday evenings from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and Fridays and Saturdays from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm. Additional hours may be scheduled for meetings and project work as needed, based on the candidate's availability and department needs.

Classroom Support:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for classroom support, ensuring smooth operation of both in-person and online learning environments.
  • Provide hands-on assistance to faculty during class sessions, troubleshooting technology issues, and ensuring all classroom equipment functions properly.
  • Oversee Zoom sessions by initiating and monitoring meetings, managing breakout rooms, assisting with screen sharing, and addressing any technical difficulties that arise.
  • Set up and test audiovisual equipment, including microphones, cameras, projectors, and display monitors, before class sessions.
    Ensure the classroom remains clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies such as whiteboard markers, erasers, and extra cables.
  • Proactively identify and report any technical or facility issues to the appropriate TLI staff for resolution.

Project Assistance:

  • Assist with special projects related to classroom technology, student services, and administrative operations as assigned by TLI professional staff.
  • Support the implementation of new technology initiatives, including software updates, hardware installations, and testing of new tools for classroom use.
  • Contribute to the organization and execution of student services initiatives, such as orientation programs, networking events, and academic workshops.
  • Assist with compiling and maintaining documentation related to classroom support procedures, troubleshooting guides, and best practices.

Catering Set-Up: Friday & Saturday Shifts Only

  • Coordinate the delivery, setup, and cleanup of student meals (breakfast and lunch) during weekend class sessions.
  • Ensure meals are set up in a timely and organized manner, following food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Assist with maintaining a clean classroom for students and faculty
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate at the University of Minnesota.
  • Availability to work one or more of the following shifts (please indicate in your application your desired shifts):
    • Thursdays 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm
    • Fridays 7:30 am - 5:00 pm (ideally one shift but may be split into two shifts if necessary)
    • Saturdays 7:30 am - 5:00 pm (ideally one shift but may be split into two shifts if necessary)
  • Demonstrated customer service and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Zoom, Canvas, and classroom technology.
  • Ability to troubleshoot classroom technology issues.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $16 - $17 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience
