Department:Emergency Management Office Organizational Unit:Emergency Management Operations Position Type:Permanent Full Time/Part Time:Full Time CLOSE DATE: 08/27/2025 $1,942.03 to $2,136.23 biweekly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Central Area/Rockledge/Brevard County Emergency Operations Center/Travels Countywide. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Performs experienced professional work planning, organizing, and coordinating emergency management projects. Work involves coordinating activities with other Counties and state, federal, and community agencies for the various programs within Emergency Management, including Mass Care, Mass Notification, Radiological, Logistics, Recovery, Mitigation, Planning, Healthcare, Training & Exercise, and Information Sharing & Resource Coordination Systems; reviewing healthcare facility Comprehensive Emergency Management Plans (CEMPs) per Florida Statute and Florida Agency for Healthcare Administration (ACHA) Rule, remaining up-to-date on changes in Florida Statute and Agency for ACHA Rule in regards to healthcare CEMPs and emergency power plans; representing Brevard County on the Florida Emergency Preparedness Association (FEPA) Healthcare Working Group, maintaining, planning, reviewing, and implementing the integrated preparedness plan and training and exercise program; and assisting in the development of Homeland Security Exercise & Evaluation Program (HSEEP) compliant exercises, coordinating emergency management supported training and serving as the primary point of contact for the Florida Agency for Healthcare Administration (ACHA), Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) Training and Exercise Unit, and healthcare facilities. REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Political Science, Social Science, English, or any closely related field. Additional qualifying education and/or direct emergency management experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must have successfully completed, prior to employment, the most current Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) IS 100, 200, 700, 800, and 2200 courses. Must have successfully completed, prior to employment, all of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Professional Development Series (PDS) independent study courses. Must successfully complete, within nine (9) months of employment, all of the Brevard County Mandatory Training for the Development of New Employees classes. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, which includes long hours, early morning, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
