Software Engineer SME

This position requires an active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance or the ability to obtain a TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance to be considered.

The Software Engineer SME shall collaborate on the integration of capabilities from different systems. Additionally, you will collaborate on the design, development, testing and integration. Software Engineer SME Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintain and enhance the core ServiceNow platform by adding new capabilities to improve functionality for various tenants.
  • Develop, test, and deploy ServiceNow updates based on customer requirements.
  • Customize and configure ServiceNow applications, facilitating the rollout of new applications and modules; including configuring the Application User Interface and workflows.
  • Collaborate closely with ServiceNow System Engineers and developers to design solutions, manage updates, and handle configuration changes or requests.
  • Identify system deficiencies and propose effective solutions.
  • Support ongoing maintenance and continuous improvement of processes, standards, policies, methodologies, and tools.
  • Ensure development and production environments are reliable, reproducible, and consistently configured across Development, Testing, Integration, and Production stages.
  • Participate in production support and provide end-user assistance as needed.
  • Document testing procedures and maintenance activities related to system corrections.
  • Research and adopt new technologies and standards to enhance platform capabilities.
  • Design, develop, and modify enterprise-wide systems and applications software.
  • Contribute to system and deployment planning while ensuring compliance with software standards.
  • Evaluate hardware-software interfaces, operational requirements, and overall system characteristics to optimize performance.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Software Engineer SME Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • TS/SCI with polygraph
  • Minimum of sixteen (16) years of relevant experience, with a bachelor's or master's degree.
  • Strong knowledge of the ServiceNow Development Platform, including but not limited to ITSM, ITOM, SPM, HR Module, Customer Service Management (CSM), Asset Management, Change Management, and Custom Development.
  • Proven track record of successfully developing ServiceNow products using JavaScript and other programming languages.
  • Experience in database administration, preferably Oracle or MySQL.
  • Ability to accurately estimate work effort and resource requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong multitasking abilities and capability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Adaptability to a rapidly changing work environment.
  • Willingness and aptitude to learn and work with emerging technologies and tools as needed.
  • Capability to deliver enhanced functionality, support new implementations, and provide ongoing maintenance while maintaining system integrity.
  • High level of initiative, creativity, and technical expertise essential to effectively contribute to the team.
  • Skilled at identifying issues and implementing timely corrective actions.
  • Commitment to pursuing the ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) certification while on the job.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Current ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) certification.
  • Experience with IT project management methodologies and familiarity with Scrum, Lean, Agile, and DevOps practices.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Java and Ruby, as well as experience with DevOps and DevSecOps processes.
