Sr. Specialist, Special Projects - Health Systems

The Sr. Specialist, Special Projects objectives are to effectively lead projects across the business, with a focus on our Health Systems partnerships and 340(B) contract pharmacy programs. This individual will ensure the compliance, optimization, and success of the 340B program at Biologics. They will partner cross-functionally across the business and ensure adherence to federal regulations, manage relationships with covered entities, and drive operational excellence in 340B contract pharmacy arrangements. They will also manage additional projects and programs of strategic importance to the business.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Management

  • Oversees/coordinates all aspects of project and serves as project/program manager between external partners and internal stakeholders, leveraging both internal and external resources.

  • Responsible for all aspects of the development/implementation of projects and programs as assigned. Plans and directs schedules as well as project budgets.

  • Provides a single point of contact for projects. Takes projects from original concept through final implementation. Recommends/takes action to direct the analysis of and solution to problems.

  • Interfaces with all areas affected by the project which may include customers, client services and various departments (e.g. marketing, IT, Finance, etc.). Defines project scope and objectives.

  • Monitors project/program profitability against plan on a monthly basis and prepares analysis if established thresholds are not met.

  • Coordinates internal effort to produce sizing on new initiatives.

340B Program Management, Oversight, & Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with HRSA guidelines and 340B program requirements; Monitor and interpret regulatory changes affecting 340B operations.

  • Oversee inventory management, replenishment, and split billing software; Educate internal teams on 340B program requirements and best practices.

  • Collaborate with IT and vendors to ensure accurate data integration and reporting.

  • Manage contract pharmacy relationships and third-party administrators (TPAs); Serve as the senior liaison between the specialty pharmacy and covered entities.

  • Partner across the business to identify opportunities to improve program efficiency; Develop and implement policies and procedures to support program integrity.

  • Analyze financial performance and provide strategic recommendations to leadership.

Additional Program & Project Responsibilities

  • Manages relationships across stakeholders related to all program and project ownership, partnering cross-functionally as appropriate.

  • Provides proactive consultative services on process improvement & other program opportunities.

  • Drive collaboration across all Biologics teams, which including Quality, Pharmacy Services, Marketing, Sales, Legal, Business Development, Human Resources, Finance and Accounting and Business Intelligence.

  • Serves as point of contact for day-to-day program issues. Involves team members as needed to resolve all issues within reasonable time frames, escalates issues to Sr. leadership as necessary.

  • Understands, evaluates, and interprets data related to program performance and growth

  • Responsible for identifying project priorities and communicating priorities to internal team.

Workforce & Administrative

  • Monitors team tracking on customer projects.

  • Provides status reports to ensure senior level management visibility to program operation.

  • Responsible for building team environment with internal partners.

  • Manages conflict resolution to ensure successful/productive project/program.

Minimum Requirement

Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field (PharmD or MBA preferred).

Critical Skills

  • 7+ years experience in account or program management preferred, with 5+ years experience in Healthcare, Pharmaceutical, Finance, Distribution, or Management Consulting preferred

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience managing 340B programs, preferably in a specialty or hospital pharmacy setting.

  • Strong knowledge of 340B regulations, contract pharmacy models, and split billing software (e.g., Sentry, Macro Helix, Verity).

Additional Skills

  • Experience with specialty pharmacy operations and limited distribution networks is a plus.

  • Certification in 340B (e.g., Apexus Advanced 340B Operations Certificate) is a plus.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities.

  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects toward effective solutions and according to budget and timelines

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent time management/organization skills

Travel

Up to 20% travel may be required

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$92,900 - $154,900
