Cruz Associates Inc. of Yorktown, VA has an open position and is looking for qualified candidates for a Production Machinery Mechanic. The job location is at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant, McAlester Oklahoma. Scope of Performance: Production mechanic/machinist needed to support, install, and provide preventative maintenance on various production equipment Key Responsibilities:
- Incumbent performs final and in progress calibration and measurement inspections. Conducts certification on final acceptance and in-process fixed and semi-fixed production machinery and equipment. This includes but is not limited to gages, jigs, fixtures and measuring equipment such as flush pin, location, fixture, alignment, indicating, thread plug, ring, comparator fixtures, functional gages, drill jigs and indexing fixtures.
- Determines the accuracy of items and initiates applicable reports. Reviews drawings on equipment and fixtures for correlation of design function and mathematical computation with component drawings. Reports errors through feedback to proper engineering or design facility.
- Make recommendations to elements of the workforce in support of continuous improvement and decisions relating to interpretation of procedures.
- Recommends changes and identifies discrepancies concerning precision measurements and techniques. Coordinates findings/discoveries with all shop center representatives.
- Incumbent examines services, materials, and products that are processed, manufactured, or repaired by workers to determine that the physical and operating characteristics are within acceptable standards, specifications, or contractual requirements.
- Ensures preparation and/or update of records and initiates and maintains all required reports relative to assigned tasks. Incumbent also installs, aligns, repairs, overhauls, sustains and maintains numerous types of fixed and semi-fixed production machinery and equipment used in the manufacture and renovation process. Encompasses all equipment including but not limited to: CNC Lathe, CNC Mill, CNC Band Saw, CNC Bridge Mill, Water Jet, HVAC Preventive Maintenance, Passivation System (Tanks), welding equipment, press break, manual machines, blast booth, paint booth, and an air compressor with corresponding distribution system.
- Assignments may include modification of commercial items, and fabrication of developmental equipment and devices, a limited number of equipment prototypes and one-of-a-kind items. Items machined are made from metals and metal alloys including Stainless Steel (SS), Carbon Steel (CS), Aluminum (AL), and other metals that are limited in use primarily to the military.
- Incumbent works and plans sequences of operation from verbal instructions, rough sketches, or blueprints and frequently works from only a description or specification of end item requirement without an outline of the steps and methods required to meet these requirements. Based on experience in working with metals, determines what methods and fabrication processes to use to obtain required factors such as strength, desired life span of item, surface finish, location of component equipment, corrosion and other properties.
- Incumbent plans and lays out work; determines procedures, machines, tools, equipment and attachments to be used; determines proper type and size of raw stock needed; and determines machine speeds and feeds necessary to attain required finishes and tolerances, taking into consideration the type of tools to be used and the material to be machined.
Education and Experience - Required/Preferred:
- Experience in both CNC and manual machining processes and setup
- Experience in operation and setup of various machining equipment, to include but not limited to, CNC Lathe, CNC Mill, CNC Bandsaw, CNC Bridge Mill
- Experience and knowledge in preventative maintenance and calibration techniques
- Experience in working with production machinery to include, but not limited to, tear down, install, rework, and fabrication.
- Ability to carry and handle items weighing up to 40 pounds
- Climbing and work in some high places may be required
- Experience in mechanical and equipment installation and planning
- Ability or receive and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
