Job Summary
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Pastry Chef to lead our pastry program in Albany, NY. The Pastry Chef will be responsible for crafting high-quality desserts, baked goods, and specialty pastries that align with our brand and delight our guests. This role involves recipe development, kitchen leadership, and hands-on execution, requiring both artistic flair and strong technical skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, prepare, and present a wide variety of desserts, pastries, breads, and specialty baked goods.
- Develop new menu items and seasonal offerings that align with customer preferences and business goals.
- Ensure consistent quality, portion control, and presentation of all pastry products.
- Oversee daily production schedules and manage inventory of ingredients and baking supplies.
- Train and supervise pastry assistants and other kitchen staff as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the pastry kitchen, ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Monitor food cost, minimize waste, and contribute to overall kitchen efficiency.
- Collaborate with chefs, management, and event staff for catering, holiday menus, and special events.
Qualifications
- Degree or certification in Baking & Pastry Arts or Culinary Arts preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a professional pastry or baking environment, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role.
- Strong knowledge of classic and modern pastry techniques.
- Creative, detail-oriented, and passionate about delivering high-quality products.
- Ability to manage time and prioritize in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work standing for long periods.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations (Serv Safe certification a must).
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $50,000 – $65,000/year, depending on experience
