State Department Federal Credit Union is seeking a Director, Retail Business Development toprovide leadership and support to branch operations, serving as the primary coach for branch managers and ensuring alignment with the credit union's growth and service objectives. Acting as the strategic partner to the VP, Retail Business Development, this role supports all aspects of the division, including Organizational Services and New Accounts, when needed.

This position requires a balance of strategic oversight and hands-on leadership, with a focus on member experience, operational excellence, and staff development. The Director will also represent the credit union through business development activities, embassy visits, and community engagement.The role is guided by the credit union's core values-Personal Ownership, Empowering Transparency, Purposeful Innovation, and Honed Expertise-and is expected to model and instill these values across all branches.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Lead and mentor branch managers, promoting strong sales and service cultures while ensuring compliance with policies and audit standards.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and accountability aligned with organizational goals.
  • Visit branches regularly to provide coaching, visibility, and support.
  • Drive consistency in branch operations to deliver a seamless, high-quality member experience.
  • Partner closely with the Operations team to improve processes, enhance compliance, and support deposit operations.
  • Collaborate with Lending, Marketing, and Member Services, etc. to align branch initiatives with broader institutional objectives.
  • Support business and organizational account servicing, including deposit operations, maintenance, and member needs.
  • Serve as a key partner to the VP, stepping in to lead meetings, represent the division, and manage initiatives as needed.
  • Provide leadership continuity across all three areas of the division: Branches, Organizational Services, and New Accounts.
  • Represent the credit union at networking events, embassy visits, presentations, and business development activities.


Qualifications

Required Skills and Competencies:



  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five years of professional experience, including demonstrated leadership in retail banking or branch management.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring ability to develop leaders and empower teams.
  • Demonstrated success in relationship management and external engagement.
  • Experience with business/organizational accounts and deposit operations.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work across departments and priorities.
  • Willingness to travel for branch visits, member engagement, and external events.
