Job Summary

CA-DK

The Department of Radiology is a 24-hour, seven day a week operation providing Imaging Services for adult and pediatric inpatients and outpatients. This position is responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the Breast Imaging department. This Mammo coordinator position works daily MQSA ques for all screening locations along with Breast Imaging Diagnostic/ MRI exam and reports. This coordination position is responsible identifying radiologist recommendations for follow up imaging, verifying order, contacting all call back patients, placing their orders, and schedules patients accordingly. They continuously follow up on recommendations made by radiologists, by communicating with patients and their physicians by phone and mail. They read all reports and notify radiologist to correct any dictation errors.

They must review and enter all breast imaging biopsy pathologies into EPIC and follow all the way through excision, this includes reviewing Care Everywhere to see if patient went outside of UC Davis. They must communicate with all staff members, providers, and patients in a clear and effective manner. They maintain accurate records and scheduling protocols. The coordinator plays a vital role in coordinating patient care and ensuring that all administrative tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner. They are also tasked with printing daily schedules for radiologists, sorting and folding result/reminder letters for patients, and always monitoring our schedule with leadership to expedite urgent patients.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • 3-5 years of experience in non-clinical support in a breast imaging department.
  • Complete working knowledge of applicable medical terminology. Knowledge of disease processes, anatomy, and physiology necessary for assigning accurate codes
  • Ability to read and interpret handwritten and transcribed documents, interpret information, and enter complete and accurate data into charge entry system.
  • Ability to follow ICD-9, CPT and HCPCS guidelines related to their use in assigning and sequencing diagnosis and procedure codes for appropriate physician reimbursement and data collection. Must be able to understand assignment of Evaluation and Management visit level utilizing Health Care Financing Administration guidelines.
  • Knowledge of complex Breast imaging pathway journeys from screening, diagnostic, biopsy, localization services using different modalities.
  • Knowledge of MQSA standards and requirements for properly inputting pertinent patient data, including Birads, follow up, pathology, and recommendations.
  • Ability to maintain and utilize data entry for MQSA compliance per imaging recommendations.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the meaning and organization of patient medical records.
  • Analytical skills necessary to prioritize BiRad-0 imaging pathways and schedule in timely manner.
  • Ability to interpret reports and accurately enter data into the RIS Mammography system.
  • Knowledge of standard keyboard, ability to input/retrieve data accurately. Required to accurately enter and retrieve patient data from the Hospital Information System (IS) and Radiology Information System {RIS) including but not limited to patient demographic and exam information, verification, status, change, and amendment.
  • Good general understanding of basic Radiology procedures and knowledge of Radiology equipment, supplies, and drugs.
  • Ability to explain in detail any Imaging recommendations placed in a report and give proper guidance for various imaging pathways.
  • Skills to comprehend and assess patient's grievances to quickly locate appropriate resource for assistance.
  • Solid interpersonal and customer service skills with ability to be diplomatic and highly organized.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and apply sound judgement.
  • Knowledge of Medical terminology, data collection. compilation, and analytical techniques.
  • Ability to follow extensive and detailed protocols.
  • Working Knowledge of the organization and how to get issues resolved.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced demanding environment with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to manage and oversee multiple tasks simultaneously, including high daily call volumes.
  • Acquiring knowledge of Patient's Rights and Responsibilities, Joint Commission Standards, and Center for Medicare/Medicaid regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Work Environment

UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014.
