Pediatric Otolaryngology (ENT) Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant

University of Minnesota Physicians is seeking a dedicated and compassionate certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Pediatric Otolaryngology (ENT) practice at the M Health Fairview Masonic Children's Hospital in Minneapolis, MN.

About the Opportunity

This is an exceptional opportunity to join a thriving pediatric tertiary care practice. Our Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) are integral to our team, supporting both the outpatient Pediatric ENT and Facial Plastic Surgery needs of M Health Fairview and the inpatient service of Masonic Children's Hospital.

You will become a key provider in managing a diverse range of pediatric ENT conditions, including recurrent ear infections, otitis media with effusion (ear tubes), adenoid and tonsil disease, congenital ear deformities, ankyloglossia (tongue-tie), and hearing loss, cleft and craniofacial disorders and pediatric facial plastic surgery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborative Practice: Work in close partnership with our Pediatric ENT physicians multidisciplinary teams in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
  • Inpatient Care: Dedicate approximately 30% of your time to inpatient responsibilities, including active participation in morning team rounds, co-managing inpatient consults and post-operative patients, and providing specialized care for patients with tracheostomies.
  • Outpatient Clinic: Develop and manage an independent, parallel outpatient practice focusing on routine pediatric ENT patients, while co-managing more complex cases with physician support.
  • Procedural Training: Gain hands-on experience and independent proficiency in routine procedures such as flexible nasal endoscopy, cerumen removal, frenectomy, and ear molding, suture removal.
  • Specialized Program Development: Play a key role in supporting and growing our multidisciplinary programs, including the Aerodigestive Clinic, Tracheostomy Follow-Up Clinic, Facial Trauma and Scar Clinic, and Ear Shape Clinic.

Comprehensive Onboarding and Training

We are committed to your success. If you do not have prior ENT experience, we will provide a structured orientation and educational plan. Your first few months will be dedicated to shadowing our providers to build a strong foundation in Pediatric ENT, including the management of common outpatient conditions, inpatient consults, and post-operative care.

Schedule & Work-Life Balance

  • Flexible FTE: 0.8 - 1.0 FTE
  • Schedule: Flexible scheduling options available. Our ideal arrangement is four 10-hour day shifts per week (Tuesday-Friday).
  • No Call: Enjoy a predictable schedule with no after-hours, weekend, or holiday call responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or formal Pediatric Nurse Practitioner training program.
  • Current certification through NCCPA, PNCB, ANCC, or AANP, or be certification-eligible.
  • Licensed or eligible to obtain a license and prescriptive authority through the appropriate Minnesota state board (MN Board of Medical Practice for PAs, MN Board of Nursing for NPs).
  • Able to meet all threshold criteria for credentialing and privileges.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to practice with a high of level autonomy in a clinical setting.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with a passion for educating and partnering with patients and their families.
  • Previous experience in a pediatric specialty practice.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to following through on patient care plans, including lab results and referrals.
  • Experience working independently and confidently managing patient and referring provider communications.
