Job Description Basic Function:

Safely and effectively operate grinders and related equipment. Accurately record information related to grinding function.

Essential Function and Responsibilities:

  • Safely and effectively operate clean bottle grinder, L bottle grinder and preform grinder.
  • Safely and effectively operate all related equipment, including vacuum systems, mixers, blenders and compactors.
  • Accurately separate A and L regrind. Inspect all material for contamination prior to grinding and separate material as needed.
  • Consume and generate material tickets in SAP.
  • Use forklift to load scrap material on trucks for outbound shipments.
  • Accurately weigh material, record information as needed and break down empty gaylords.
  • Generate related salvage reports in SAP. Cycle count regrind and scrap on hand.
  • Clean material hoppers, filters, mixers and related equipment as required.
  • Bale plastics bags, liner and stretch film.
  • Utilize Levels Program in order to train to specific daily activities, increase technical knowledge and skill.
  • Understand the PCR reintroduction system, including silos, day bins, mixers and distribution piping.
  • Understand the distribution system from grind to PCR system.
  • Capable of filling in as a material handler at the main plant.
  • Keep area tidy and free of debris and slip hazards.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Reporting Relationship: This position reports directly to the One-Step Shift Supervisor. Incumbent will also have a dotted line to the One Step Production Manager.

Education/Experience: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential functions. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform essential functions.

Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Prior experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.

Interpersonal Skills: Good written and verbal communications skills are required. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general task assignments is required. Incumbent must be capable of working well in both team and independent working environments.

Technical Skills: Ability to understand material system sequence of operations.

Other: Incumbent must possess high degree of attention to detail. Must have or be able to obtain valid forklift license and safely and effectively operate both a single and double blade fork lift. Must be able to learn and navigate relevant computer applications including SAP, Mii, and Excel. Incumbent must be self-directed and be able to work with minimal supervision

Physical: Must be capable of standing and walking in production and warehouse areas for up to an 8 or 12-hour shift depending on volumes needed at the time. Must occasionally squat, bend, kneel, reach, etc., in order to carry out essential functions of the position. Must be capable of lifting/carrying up to 30 lbs. during the shift.
