Summary/Objective:
The Superintendent is responsible for directing and coordinating the operations of discharge, load, and departure of assigned transportation, while guaranteeing quality, security, safety and efficiency in accordance with relevant operational and technical parameters. The Superintendent is the first line supervisor of the operations management team and is responsible for the direction and supervision of union labor. The Superintendent is often the only member of management interacting with labor while working a ship and must represent the interests of SSA while supervising the union labor. * High school diploma * Two (2) year degree or equivalent experience working in operations preferred * Three (3) years management experience, union labor experience a plus * Able to maintain a valid driver license and TWIC card * Thorough knowledge or principles of terminal operations * Experience with computerized operating systems * Knowledge of safety and accident prevention codes and regulations * Knowledge and understanding of cargo stowage and stability strongly desired * Required to observe all safety and health requirements. Work environment:
* Must be able to work in varying shifts, days, evenings and nights. * Must be able to work in extreme outdoor temperatures of hot and cold, extremely dusty conditions and occasionally, conditions of high levels of noise. * The ability to work in an environment that may be hazardous to persons unable to see and hear fast moving equipment * The ability to drive 50% We are an Equal Opportunity Employer Benefits
