Description

Under the direction of the Manager, Office of Community Impact, the Coordinator, Community Engagement, is responsible for the strategic oversight and direct management of internal development and intercultural programs that serve both students and employees. This role plays a vital part in fostering a welcoming and inclusive campus environment by developing and implementing frameworks for conflict resolution, healing, and reconciliation. The Coordinator will also manage grant-funded projects, lead cultural awareness events and learning opportunities, and oversee community transformation initiatives that align directly with the College's mission, vision, and strategic priorities. Under direction of the Manager, this role will also provide assistance and support to the College's employee resource groups.

Work is cross-functional and diverse. Challenging, high-volume environment, that requires multitasking skills, the ability to meet deadlines and deal with difficult situations. Operates with strong professional judgment, accuracy, and decision making with minimal supervision. Daily responsibilities are completed independently using established policies and general objectives with interaction with supervisor limited to problems or unusual conditions


Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

  • Program and Training Oversight: Develops, manages, and facilitates internal training programs and intercultural development initiatives. This includes creating program curricula, setting learning objectives, and ensuring program content is relevant and impactful for a diverse audience of students and employees.
  • Conflict and Reconciliation: Designs, implements, and manages frameworks and procedures for conflict resolution, healing, and reconciliation within the college community. This function involves working with diverse groups to address interpersonal and systemic issues, promoting open dialogue and constructive outcomes.
  • Inclusion and Intercultural Learning: Administers and interprets professional development tools, such as the Intercultural Development Inventory, to assess and enhance the intercultural competence of employees and students. This includes providing confidential debriefing and facilitating learning sessions to support personal and professional growth in this area.
  • Grant and Event Management: Oversees all aspects of grant and program management for social and cultural awareness events, learning opportunities, and development initiatives. This involves grant writing and reporting, budget management, and coordinating logistics to ensure events are successful and meet their intended goals.
  • Community Transformation: Leads and provides direction for community transformation initiatives, ensuring these projects are aligned with the College's mission and are designed to make a measurable positive impact on both the internal and external communities.
  • Administrative and Operational Support: Provides comprehensive administrative and operational support for all programs and initiatives under the role's purview. This includes managing program budgets, scheduling, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and maintaining clear communication to ensure seamless execution of all activities.
  • Ethics and Confidentiality: Practices honesty by demonstrating a consistent and uncompromising adherence to strong moral and ethical principles, values, truthfulness and accuracy in all actions. Addresses all student and employee behavior in a confidential and respectful manner.
  • Collaborative Teamwork: Establishes, maintains, and enhances positive work relationships with students, staff, faculty, and administrators.
  • Continuous Learning and Professional Development: Maintains current knowledge of best practices in the field by participating in training opportunities, user groups, publications, and professional groups. Actively organizes and/or participates in applicable workgroups, trainings, workshops, seminars, committees and professional associations or conferences to promote continuous learning.
  • Other duties: Performs other related duties within the scope of the position as required for the efficient operation of the division and to support institutional objectives.

Qualifications

Compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards/requirement, as well as all MATC policies and procedures.

Required Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Higher Education, Organizational Development, Course Development, Facilitation, or related field with two (2) years of progressive experience in training, education, or organizational development.

Preferred Education & Experience: Master's degree in in Business Administration, Higher Education, Organizational Development, Course Development, Facilitation, or related field with at least three (3) years of progressive experience in training, education, or organizational development.


Supplemental Information

Start Date: This position supports the Student Engagement & Community Impact and is available to start immediately.

Hours: 40 hours weekly, in-person, primarily based out of the Downtown Campus. Work is conducted during scheduled course hours, Monday - Friday. Hours vary based on departmental needs. Employees will conduct all work hours in the State of Wisconsin, performing work outside the state is strictly prohibited.
