Cherokee Federal seeks a Scientist VII to advance research on coastal hazards, climate change impacts, and restoration strategies. This role includes developing and applying numerical models, analyzing large and complex datasets, supporting fieldwork, and disseminating research that informs national resilience and coastal resource management.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Scientist VII: $109,304

Pay commensurate with experience.

Scientist VII Responsibilities Include:

* Development and application of coastal numerical models
* Development of scripts and computational tools for models and data analysis
* Analysis and merging of spatially and temporally variant data sets on a variety of scales
* Dissemination of data and numerical model output through reports, publications, and presentations
* Driving personal or federal government vehicles on average once a month, normally for less than 10 miles but occasionally up to several hundred miles
* Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Scientist VII Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

* Master's degree or PhD in coastal engineering, oceanography, coastal geology, marine science, or a related field
* Experience with developing and running numerical hydrodynamic and/or morphodynamic models (e.g., Delft3D, XBeach, ADCIRC, SWAN)
* Demonstrable skills in Matlab or Python plus at least one additional programming language
* Prior experience in data analysis, figure preparation for publications/presentations, and scientific literature or data searches
* Prior experience in data collection and fieldwork activities
* Valid driver's license and dependable means of transportation
* Must adhere to all computer security clearance requirements of the agency (training and testing)
* Past applicable job experience may include, but is not limited to: Coastal Scientist, Oceanographer, Marine Geologist, Coastal Engineer, Research Scientist
* Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
