As a
Radio Frequency (RF) Countermeasures Engineer
with MTSI, you will be responsible for the development of RF countermeasures onto the F-35 aircraft.You will oversee the integration of these new survivability systems and execute development functions in support of test events for the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve Command Test Center (AATC) and the Jamming & Countermeasure Center (JCC). The candidate will support the JCC located at Pt Mugu, CA.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Apply systems engineering methods to define requirements, guide implementation, and improve testing efficiency of complex integrated defense systems.
- Manage active and new RF countermeasure test events and programs as required.
- Produce design documents, test plans, and test reports as part of the continuous improvement of existing programs that improve operational readiness.
- Provide inputs for training documentation to be delivered to system users.
- Attend technical / management meetings as requested by AATC/JCC Leadership.
- Advise USAF, USN, USMC, F-35 Partners, and F-35 FMS customers on expendable acquisition and keep them abreast of the latest technical developments.
- Foster prospective technologies and develop relationships with various government and industry entities to enhance F-35 platform survivability to support ARC WEPTAC derived priorities.
- Deploy to participate in test events away from home station as required.
- Provide expertise in the following areas: tactical subject matter expert; operational and developmental test planning & execution; test plan formulation; CONOPs development.
- Directly support AATC/JCC in the development of advanced combat systems from cradle to grave in an independent, high-energy environment, and will operate in multidisciplinary teams of industry, government, and military personnel consisting of engineers, analysts, scientists, pilots, and other aircrew.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years' experience in a system engineering/development role.
- Knowledge of the theories, principles, and techniques of RF & IR Spectrum Warfare sufficient to contribute to test development and provide recommendations.
- Background in USAF/USN combat aircraft systems, tactical employment, and development of tactics, techniques, and procedures.
- Knowledge of adversary capabilities and vulnerabilities in RF & IR spectrum
- Experience with aircraft test and development, to include change proposal/selection, test plan writing, design of test, test provisioning/scheduling, test execution, data analysis, and reporting.
- Strong ability to work in an integrated product team environment with demonstrated leadership and customer interface skills.
- Good analytical skills and be capable of operating in a multi-tasking environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, to draft clear, concise reports, and to provide technical guidance and briefings.
- The ability to work effectively with other program offices, other USG and DoD agencies, and senior US and foreign government officials at a variety of venues.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record.
- Must have a can-do attitude and be self-starting, ambitious, and hard-working.
Desired Skills:
- Background in military aviation, preferably with electronic warfare/attack.
- Graduate of US Test Pilot School / Weapons Instructor Course.
- Background in Special Access Programs.
- Experience in the design/use and aircraft data bus architecture.
- Experience with flight test of avionics and electronic warfare systems.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree is required in a technical/engineering discipline.
- Master's degree in a technical discipline is desired.
Clearance Requirements:
- Active Secret security clearance required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance and meet eligibility requirements for Special Access Program (SAP).
- U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
Travel Requirements:
- Travel is expected to be intermittent. Up to 20% travel, depending on program workload, with occasional travel periods to support test deployments for more than a week.
