Commercial Counsel 
Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is seeking a highly motivated and proactive Counsel for the Legal Department  
What You Will Do: 
     
    - Commercial Transactions:
 
     
       
      - Offer legal advice and counsel to a variety of business teams, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws related to commercial transactions
 - Draft and negotiate commercial transactions with vendors
 - Manage disputes with vendors
 
       
      
  
     
    
     
    - Litigation:
 
     
       
      - Manage all facets of litigation and disputes, which include employment, consumer, contractual, commercial, or other kinds of legal disputes
 - Conduct internal investigations, support discovery efforts, draft and review discovery requests/responses, pleadings, and briefs, direct litigation strategy, and negotiate settlements
 - Identify legal risks and mitigate them by designing and implementing controls
 
       
      
  
     
    
     
    - Miscellaneous Items:
 
     
       
      - Undertake any (assigned) overflow work from the General Counsel
 
       
      
  
     
     
What You Will Bring to the Role: 
     
    - Bachelor's and juris doctor degrees, in addition to being admitted to the Michigan Bar
 - 2-5 years of experience as an attorney
 
     
       
      - Some in-house experience, preferred
 
       
      
  - Proficiency in Microsoft programs, such as Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
 - Excellent time management, self-management, and organization skills
 - Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills
 - Ability to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
 - Strict attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness in one's work
 - Ability to provide prompt responsiveness to internal client requests, with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and changing business priorities
 - Ability to understand and consider business objectives in a legal function
 - Deadline-driven nature
 - Sound judgment and decision-making skills
 - Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
 - Valid Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record
