Job Overview

As Senior, Colleague Experience, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that Macy's colleagues feel welcomed, recognized, and celebrated throughout their journey with us. Your primary focus will be to support, advise, and implement recognition and onboarding strategies to deliver on our culture vision. You'll collaborate with partners on initiatives to continuously improve our colleague experience - to foster genuine hospitality and drive organizational growth.

This position can be based out of New York, NY or Cincinnati, OH.

What You Will Do



  • Design and implement an enterprise-wide onboarding experience that fosters genuine hospitality and connection from Day 1-blending in-person orientation, self-paced learning, and cultural immersion experiences.
  • Continuously evolve the onboarding experience based on colleague feedback and evolving business needs.
  • Partner cross-functionally to identify challenges, align on solutions, and drive effective implementation of onboarding.
  • Organize and manage company-wide recognition programs (e.g., service milestones, gratitude cards, recognition events) to reinforce our culture and drive growth.
  • Support communication and leader guidance to reinforce consistent recognition and onboarding practices company wide.
  • Oversee end-to-end design and development timelines, managing multiple projects with varying deadlines while ensuring quality and alignment with business goals.
  • Monitor program effectiveness, utilization, and colleague sentiment. Use these insights to refine and optimize strategies.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.

  • Adult Learning Expertise: Deep knowledge of adult learning, especially during onboarding, leadership transitions, and skill-building moments.
  • Design Thinking Expertise: Apply a user-centered, iterative problem-solving approach to solutioning, focused on our colleagues' needs and workplace.
  • Collaborative Communication: Proven ability to partner effectively across diverse teams and clearly communicate vision.
  • Solution Oriented Thinking: Demonstrates strong critical thinking skills to navigate workplace challenges. Proactively identifies potential issues and implements effective, timely solutions to support team performance and operational success.
  • Data-Driven Decision-Making: Utilized data and analytics to inform decisions, optimize processes, and improve colleagues' experience and performance.


Who You Are



  • Candidates with a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. Background in organizational development, learning and leadership, or capability building programs. Strong adult learning background a plus!
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • Able to work a flexible (hybrid) schedule based on department and company needs. The role can be based in New York City at our Herald Square Headquarters or our Cincinnati Corporate Offices.
