***THIS IS A REMOTE POSITION*** Job Summary: The Software Engineer 4 (SE4) supports the architecture, design, development, and transition of software capabilities into production environments. The SE4 will be responsible for developing new application capabilities, and modernizing and extending existing application capabilities using augmented software innovations to improve application usability. The SE4 is a full-stack developer with solid understanding of modern enterprise application architectures and familiarity with augmented software techniques to integrate it cleanly into customer workflows. The SE4 should understand how to call, interpret, and optimize advanced capabilities. As with any position, additional expectations exist. These include, but are not limited to, adhering to normal working hours, meeting deadlines, following company policies, communicating regularly with assigned supervisors, and completing other tasks as assigned. Responsibilities:
- Integrate integrated automation capabilities functionality (e.g., LLM-based form augmentation, speech-to-text, unstructured-input assessment) into existing government enterprise systems
- Extend middle-tier and backend layers to connect with advanced capabilities, primarily integrated automation APIs and toolkits
- Modernize legacy systems using full-stack best practices, especially in Angular, React, Python, or C# environments
- Create, refactor, and update user interfaces to accommodate new technologies such as AI validation, recommendations, and real-time feedback
- Support tools such as semantic search and LLM Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) based enhancements by building and maintaining relevant infrastructure (e.g., embedding pipelines, vector databases)
- Handle data normalization, privacy handling, and integration with operational systems
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and user-centric validation efforts
- Provide deployment support, logging, monitoring, and AI usage instrumentation
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- Demonstrated experience with full-stack software development experience
- Demonstrated ability to integrate third-party services and tools
- Demonstrated experience building and deploying production-grade web applications
- Demonstrated familiarity with integrating generative AI capabilities (e.g., calling LLM APIs, evaluating AI output quality)
- Demonstrated familiarity with integrating data analysis and ML capabilities (e.g., calling feeding unstructured data into ML algorithms, retrieving and displaying assessment conclusions)
- Demonstrated experience implementing AI-enhanced workflows or integrating model inference APIs into production systems
- Demonstrated ability to implement clean, usable interfaces to support human-in-the-loop AI review processes
- Demonstrated knowledge of speech-to-text integration and automated form filling workflows
- Demonstrated skills in building APIs and backend data flows
- Eligible to obtain a U.S. Government clearance
- Must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience modernizing legacy enterprise systems (e.g., migrating from VB/ASP to modern stacks)
- Demonstrated experience with edge or hybrid cloud/on-prem deployment patterns
- Demonstrated familiarity with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines or semantic enrichment of structured forms
- Demonstrated familiarity with Navy maintenance systems (e.g., MFOM, AWN, CDMD-OA)
- Demonstrated understanding of model inference APIs, prompt-response pipelines, or RPA-style automation
