SAFETY MANAGER The Director of Safety - National Data Operating Unit provides strategic leadership, oversight, and alignment of all safety management systems within McGough's National/Data Center Operating Unit. This role ensures all national data center projects - from hyperscale campuses to specialized mission-critical installations - meet and exceed McGough's corporate safety standards, client safety requirements, and all applicable regulatory obligations. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Corporate Safety, the Director partners closely with National/Data Center Operating Unit senior leadership to embed safety culture, practices, and systems into the core of operational delivery. The Director is responsible for shaping and implementing safety systems tailored to the scale and complexity of national data center work, while maintaining consistency with enterprise-wide programs. The Director leads a team of safety professionals - including Safety Managers, Coordinators, and site-based staff - to manage execution across large, complex national projects. This position drives continuous improvement, proactive risk mitigation, and alignment with industry-leading practices and client-specific safety expectations. Qualifications: Required:
- Bachelor's degree in safety, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive safety leadership experience in construction, with at least 5 years in a director or senior leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety management systems, and industry best practices.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing safety teams.
- Ability to pass customer required background and security screenings
- Hold a valid driver's license with a clear record
Preferred:
- 15+ years of progressive safety leadership experience in construction, with at least 10 years in a director or senior leadership role.
- CSP, CHST, or other relevant certifications
- Bilingual with the ability to communicate in both Spanish and English
- Data Center Safety Management experience or other mission critical experience

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS Leadership & Oversight
- Lead the development, deployment, and oversight of safety programs across the National/Data Center Operating Unit.
- Ensure alignment of operating unit safety practices with enterprise-level frameworks, standards, and policies.
- Partner with project leadership to embed safety planning into execution strategies from pursuit through closeout.
- Collaborate with owner representatives to align project safety goals, ensure client standards are met, and build strong, trusted partnerships.
Organizational Integration
- Report directly to the VP of Corporate Safety, providing visibility and accountability into enterprise-wide safety performance.
- Collaborate with National/Data Center Operating Unit senior leadership to align safety goals with operating strategies.
- Partner laterally with Field Operations, QA/QC, and other functional leaders to ensure seamless execution.
Team Development & Support
- Manage, mentor, and support safety professionals (Safety Managers, Coordinators, etc.) assigned to national projects.
- Build systems of training, development, and succession planning to strengthen the pipeline of safety leadership.
- Provide coaching, tools, and resources to project teams to proactively manage jobsite safety.
System Development
- Create and implement tailored safety systems, protocols, and reporting mechanisms specific to the scale and complexity of data center work.
- Establish auditing, tracking, and continuous improvement processes that ensure compliance and elevate performance.
- Integrate client-specific safety standards into operating unit practices while maintaining consistency with McGough's enterprise framework.
Performance & Culture
- Champion a strong, proactive safety culture across the operating unit.
- Track, analyze, and report on safety performance metrics, trends, and lessons learned to corporate and unit leadership.
- Drive innovation and adoption of best-in-class industry practices for mission-critical and large-scale projects.

If you join McGough, your final base salary will be determined by several factors, including geography, location, skills, education, and experience. Furthermore, we place significant value on pay equity among our current team members as part of any final job offer. Please note that the range provided above reflects the hiring range for this role. Hiring near the top end of this range would be atypical, as we aim to allow room for future salary growth. Additionally, McGough offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package.
