Shift: .75 FTE night shift OB Surgical Tech at CRMC, 7pm to 7am. 3 shifts one week and 2 the next, rotating holidays, 2 Fri & 2 weekend shifts/6 wks, and requires floating when needed.

Compensation:
  • Base Pay Range: $25.32 to - $39.99 per hour, based on experience
  • Special Pay: Additional $2.50 per hour until June 27, 2026
  • Shift Differentials: Additional $2 per hour evenings/nights/weekends
  • Retention Rewards:Up to $15,000
    • Relocation Support:Additional $5,000 if moving from over 50 miles away
    • Retention Reward (Option 1):$2,000 per year for up to 5 years, totaling $10,000
    • Student Loan Repayment (Option 2):$2,000 per year toward student loans, up to 5 years, totaling $10,000

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION
  1. Perform technical duties involving care, preparation, and maintenance of sterile and non-sterile supplies and equipment in the operating rooms in order to provide a safe and effective environment.

  2. Anticipate the needs of the OB surgical team. Demonstrate appropriate OB case preparation. Establish and maintain sterile field and ensure the team maintains a sterile environment independently.

  3. Assist nursing staff /ancillary staff in the transfer of patients from bed to bed, stretcher or wheelchair, pickup and delivery of patient meal trays, and assisting with patient feeding as directed.

  4. Demonstrate the ability to organize workload and manage multiple tasks while maintaining a clutter-free and orderly environment including prompt answering of unit telephones and accurate delivery of messages and information to patients, families, visitors, staff, and personnel upon request.

  5. Educate and train new staff members in the responsibilities of the OB technician role.

  6. Perform patient position changes, placement and removal of patient equipment, daily hygiene care, fingerstick glucose checks, perform venipuncture to obtain a blood sample, maintain quality control checks, and transport lab specimens and supplies as requested.

  7. Responsible for prompt response to patient call lights and addressing patient needs using positive guest relations skills while ensuring patient vital signs, intake, output, height, and weight are documented as directed.

  8. Communicate effectively with patients, staff members, and physicians.

  9. Correct deficiencies at the case level.

  10. May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

One of the following:

--Is enrolled in a professional or practical nursing education program and has or will complete a Fundamentals of Nursing course within 90 days; or

--Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) exam registration; or

--Proof of certification as a Patient Care Technician (PCT); or

--Direct patient care experience in the past three (3) years as a medical assistant, nursing assistant, emergency medical technician, or surgical technician; or

--Completion within the last three (3) years, or will complete within 180 days, an Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) training program and clinical log demonstrating 100 hours of patient care experience; or

--Nursing licensure candidate who was unsuccessful on the state licensure examinations in the past three (3) years; or

--Completion a nursing program outside the United States and is awaiting the licensure examination in this country. Patient care experience, supervised clinical log within 180 days as a condition of continued employment in this job classification.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification by National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), or Certified Operating Room Surgical Technician (CORST) certification by National Health career Association (NHA), or Technician in Surgery - Certified (TS-C) certification by National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).

  • Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
