Scope of Position A Medical Assistant is responsible for providing clinical and administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of the medical office or hospital. This position will support physicians, providers, nurses, and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, documentation, and communication with a focus on patient experience, quality, and efficiency. Position Summary The Medical Assistant supports the patient care process by assisting physicians, nurse practitioners, and other clinical staff in the appropriate delivery of patient care services. The Medical Assistant may perform multiple advanced clinical support tasks without supervision. Medical Assistants collect and prepare laboratory specimens, dispose of contaminated supplies, and sterilize medical instruments. This position arranges exam room instruments and equipment, maintains supplies and equipment, and keeps waiting and exam rooms neat and clean. The Medical Assistant verifies patient information by interviewing patients, recording medical history, and confirming the purpose of the visit. This position prepares patients for examinations by performing preliminary physical tests, taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature, and reporting a summary of the patients history.
